Porsche Is Building A Hypercar With Some Help From Rimac

The distant future will witness a hypercar from Stuttgart that will best the Aston Martin Valkyrie and the AMG Project One. There is a huge void in Porsche’s lineup that was filled by the 918 Spyder and the Carrera GT. Porsche is aiming to plug that gap with a hypercar that will be the most powerful car ever from the German brand.
The Aston Martin Valkyrie is an alien which fuses a high-strung Cosworth V12 to a hybrid system to put out 1200PS! The Project One, meanwhile, is bringing an F1 powerplant to the road. It is also speculated to put out around 1200PS from a 1.6-litre turbo V6 paired with 5 motors. Both these hypercars are taking a different approach with their halo products and Porsche says that its hypercar will make more power than the above mentioned competition.
And Porsche aims to do that by partnering with the Croatian-based Rimac. If you were living under a rock, Rimac’s latest offering, the C_Two is an all-electric hypercar with 1900PS of peak power. Meanwhile, in other news, Porsche had also increased their stake in Rimac to 15.5 per cent. Rimac is also the one who supplies EV tech for the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
Stefan Weckbach, Head of Porsche's EV projects, was quoted as saying to CarSales “All of those Porsche super and hypercars, they aim to be the best in the market at the time. This is the target for the next one as well.”
The upcoming hypercar is also rumoured to have some cutting-edge EV tech although Porsche is more leaning towards a hybrid car than an all-electric hypercar. It might also share some styling cues from the 917 Concept. Timeline for the hypercar is still a question although 2025 is a safe bet. Reports also say that Porsche is aiming at an even higher goal of the world’s fastest road-legal production car. If that’s the case, Bugatti might also have another competitor from its own family.
