Marussia racing recently announced signing of Maria De Villota as a test driver for the 2012 season of Formula 1. Maria has previously raced in the Spanish F3, Superleague Formula and the World Touring car championship. Last year, she completed nearly 300km behind the wheel of a Renault at the Paul Ricard circuit. The Sapnish race car driver will get an opportunity to drive the MR01 during the young drivers’ test later this year at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Dani Clos HRT Test driver

Dani Clos has been signed as a test driver for Spanish Hispania Racing Team in 2012. Clos has been the test driver for the Williams team on several occasions, starting from his first outing with the team in September 2008 in a day’s testing at Jerez, Spain and for the second time in December 2008. The Spanish driver drove 68 laps for his home team in the young drivers’ test at Abu Dhabi last year and ended the day in 12th with a fastest time of 1:45.329.

Alexander Rossi Caterham Test driver

Meanwhile, Caterham named Alexander Rossi as test driver for the team for 2012 and will be driving the CT-01 on several Friday Practice sessions through the calendar. The 20-year old American driver joins Finnish driver Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov in Caterham garage. Along with Rossi, the UK based team has also appointed Giedo van der Garde as reserve driver. Alongside his test driver role, the American race car driver will participate in the 2012 World Series by Renault FR 3.5 Championship with Arden Caterham Motorsport.
