The prices of some of the accessories are so high that you can buy a new smartphone for the price of its bike cover!

This week has been quite a busy one for Aprilia as the Aprilia RSV4 Factory, Aprilia RS 660, Aprilia Tuono 660 and the Aprilia Tuareg 660 were all launched in India a few days ago. And now, the Italian manufacturer has announced the prices of the Aprilia RS 457’s accessories. Check them out here:

Well, the pricing of the accessories is similar to the approach with the new bikes: very very expensive, almost illogical. We were quite happy, at the time of the bike’s launch, that the quickshifter will be available as an accessory on the bike. But for a price tag of Rs 27,799, it is hard to make a case for it being a value for money addition. 

Aprilia RS 457 Riding Front Three Fourth

Adding an aftermarket Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to the RS 457 will be so much more affordable than forking out Rs 28,749 for the official accessory. The high pricing of some of these accessories like the ‘Racing Pads’ (most likely to be sintered units) might be due to them being probably imported from Italy. But still, a Rs 16,875 price tag for a bike cover….no way!! Not all of the accessories are ridiculously expensive though, as some of them like the USB charging port, taller windscreen and the helmet lock (wire type) are reasonably priced.

Aprilia did a fantastic job with the Aprilia RS 457 as it provides great sub-500cc supersport performance for a price tag of Rs 4,10,000 (ex-showroom Maharashtra). It has a big advantage over some of the Japanese bikes like the Kawasaki Ninja 500 (Rs 5,24,000) and the Yamaha R3 (Rs 4,64,900, both ex-showroom), both of which are very expensive for what they offer. But after adding these accessories, the total price of the RS 457 starts touching the price tags of the other two bikes, which puts a dent in its great value for money proposition.
