Honda Introduces Accord V6 with Sunroof

Vikram Gour 19 Mar 2010

Test Drive Honda Accord V6

The Honda Accord V6 has been around for almost a year now and though it has seen a reasonable demand in the market, Honda Siel felt that there was still need to improve some features on it; after all it is their flagship model.

The 3.5 litre V6 is the most powerful Honda Accord yet and what good is it if the light doesn't shine in? Well, that's exactly what some customers thought and shared their need for a sunroof with Honda. Honda Siel went right ahead and decided that the Accord could do with an electric sunroof as well as some other knick-knacks to make it an even better proposition for customers looking at entry level luxury cars.

Apart from the sunroof, the V6 Accord now features Ambient Light and Footlights in the wheel wells in order to bring out the element of interior style and enhance visibility within the car in the dark. The car also gets two sets of keyless entry for customer convenience. A Bluetooth interface with your mobile phone has also been included in the car and the best part is that despite the addition of all these features the price of the car hasn't changed drastically.

Incidentally, the features like the footlight, mobile Bluetooth interface and 2 sets of keyless entry are also available on the 2.4 litre Accord variants as well.

All foreign cars in India attract duties and make it expensive - I bought a V6 EXL in the US for $ 24K. This is the reason foreign manufacturers get attracted to India - lack of price elasticity to demand - gradually shift from CKD assembly to increasing Indian components, do not drop price and increase profitability! | Reply

I agree....They are all making a killing in India and Maruti is the only one that can give them a wake up call by bring in cars at much better prices since they focus more on Volume. I guess the same applies to BMW and other also...They are almost twice as expensive to what one pays for them in the US. Rather a big surprise. A better off economy pays less .... | Reply

Its better if the prices are high. See the condition of Indian roads. More bigger cars would simply mean more chaos! | Reply

Not getting into the US-India price debate, but the manufacturers list price (similar to India ex-showroom price) of Accord V6 luxury automatic is 50K AUD in Australia. | Reply

The 4 cyl versions in US can be had around 20000, check edmunds.com. we had bought accord v6 a while back in US that costed us 22500 on road, granted we bought in august and got advantage of end of year clearance at dealership.. in india, i dont think dealer would ever discount the car, probabaly they dont keep enought stock anyway. | Reply

Seems like the indian govt is taxing them a lot. A fully loaded Accord (V6) in US is around 27-29K. where is all this money going ? lol | Reply
  • prabhu (20 March 2010 13:37)
Hello SS,Do you own it in India? I paid $24500 for fully loaded Accord few months back here. Who is fool now to pay 18 L in India? | Reply
  • SS (20 March 2010 12:25)
Whoever is saying its double the price of US all they are frustrated and non-sense people who don't know about the US and India Car market. in $22k you will get Honda Accord with basic model which does not have anything... What they are offering in India is unique which still US Honda doesnot have and I can say because I own latest Honda Accord... Poor guy you won't get BMW in this price offcourse you get it 10 years old model | Reply

Honda Accord 2.4L MTRs. 18,52,000 /- this is extremely expensive by international standards. it is a great car but not value at this price point | Reply

Honda Accord is not a premium car, it is available from the equivalent of 9.5 lakh to 13 lakhs in the US and Canada. In India thanks to high duties and margins and the crappy local designs from Maruti and Tata, they pretend it is premium and charge as such. Indians, please dont pay mpre for a reliable yet very ordinary car. | Reply

Guys, Its a bit of both. The prices in India are inflated because of tax and also because simply, Honda can! Why are we comparing India to the US, very different markets and very different socio-economic level. I live in Australia, and here Honda is considered a decent car (not the luxury of the German brands, but still a decent quality Japanese brand)...we have two variants of the Accord in Australia, one is from Thailand and the other from Japan. The top of the range Japanese model is almost the same price as a entry level BMW, yet many Australians not just the Indians buy that due to the quality and standard equipment with the car. | Reply

That means we REALLy don't have any competion. It is like a seller's market. This is not the case in USA though. Probably it the same case in Australia as like India, I guess. | Reply

Its with majority of the manufacturers, In the case of Honda and Toyota they are nt importing the CBUs so its nt the case of Govt tax and its more of the way they want to position the car and bcoz of low volumes.. In case of Honda, its Civic and Jazz are priced at similar rates in US bt in india its almost double, Jazz price being kept almost same, where as Civic being inflated for the sake of positioning with the competetitors.. | Reply
  • Sanjay (20 March 2010 00:55)
Yes, Prices of these cars are double then the US market, Not sure Honda is exploiting or is it import duty ? | Reply
  • Anand (19 March 2010 23:51)
The price of this car (same model) is double of what one would pay in USA | Reply
  • Maverick (19 March 2010 23:04)
Same car in the USA market cost half the price of what is mentioned in the article. Honda is exploiting Indian customers. | Reply
