Bajaj Chetak Latest Updates
Bajaj is planning to launch a new Chetak electric scooter in 2025. It will be based on an all-new platform. CEO Rajiv Bajaj has confirmed that a new Chetak will be launched every year. Bajaj will be launching a new, more affordable Chetak variant soon! More about it in our story here.
The upcoming, more affordable Bajaj Chetak was earlier spied testing, check out the scooter’s clearest images here. The Chetak electric scooter, the bikemaker’s first modern electric scooter, was a big step forward for Bajaj, as it was best known for its motorcycles. It's a modern version of the classic (petrol-powered) Chetak scooter, which was a game-changer in the Indian two-wheeler space.
Bajaj Chetak Price : The basic model, called Urbane, costs Rs 1,23,319, while the top-end variant, called Premium, costs Rs 1,47,243. If you add on the TECPAC packages, they go up to Rs 1,32,001 and Rs 1,53,463 respectively (all prices ex-showroom Bengaluru including the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme or EMPS 2024 subsidy).
Bajaj Chetak Design : The Chetak stands out because it's made entirely of metal, unlike many other electric scooters. It's got a classic look inspired by the Vespa. It's also got some cool features like a retractable hook under the seat for your bag and sleek rear view mirrors. The quality of the buttons and switches is really good, and little details like the brushed metal around the LED headlight make it look classy.
Features of Bajaj Chetak : The Premium version has a new 5-inch screen that's easy to read. It also comes with cool stuff like sequential indicators, locks for the handles and steering, a switch to open the seat, and a light inside the underseat storage. Both the Urbane and Premium versions now come with the TECPAC package includes extra features like navigation, music control, and call/notification alerts.
Bajaj Chetak Motor : The Chetak has a 4kW electric motor with two modes: Eco and Sport, and it even has a reverse mode. It's not super fast, with a top speed of 73kmph. But it's got a new battery that gives it a range of 127km on a single charge. If you get the Premium version, you also get a faster charger that can give you 15.6km of range in just 30 minutes.
Bajaj Chetak Suspension, Brakes & Other Details : The Chetak gets trailing link front suspension, and 12-inch alloy wheels shod with MRF Zapper tyres. It gets a disc brake up front and a drum brake at the rear.
Bajaj Chetak Rivals : The Chetak is competing with other electric scooters like the Ampere Nexus, Ola S1 Air, Ather Rizta, Ather 450S and TVS iQube Electric.
Bajaj Chetak Range : In our test, it was able to go 113.9km on a single charge.
Bajaj Chetak Charging Time : It takes three and a half hours to charge the battery up to 80 percent, and five hours to fully charge it.
“A new Chetak will be launched every year,” says CEO Rajiv Bajaj

Expert's Conclusion
Bajaj has ushered in a new era of electric mobility with the Chetak electric. Its timeless appeal is only matched by its elegant style and premium fit and finish levels. The Chetak might not be as futuristic or boast of great performance like the Ather 450X, but it does offer an easy urban riding experience. And with the update, it is even more feature-packed and a fun-to-ride commuter.

Revisiting the Classic with Bajaj Chetak
Having owned the new Bajaj Chetak for a few months now, I feel there is much to say about this electric scooter. Bajaj revived the Chetak with a modern electric twist and it has not disappointed in making daily commutes smooth and eco friendly. The scooter sports a 3 kWh lithium ion battery that effectively offers a range of about 95 km on a single charge in Eco mode which is quite sufficient for everyday city use.The design retains a classic aesthetic, blending nostalgia with modernity, which I personally love.

Bajaj Chetak has made a grand comeback
Electrifying the streets, the Bajaj Chetak has made a grand comeback, this time in an electric avatar. With a retro design that comes back to its roots, combined with modern technology riding the Chetak is like experiencing the best of both worlds. Its IP 67 rated 3 kWh Lithium Ion battery promises a range of about 95 km on a single charge which is quite adequate for daily city commutes. But here is the kicker the charging time. It takes about 5 hours to fully charge, which means you need to plan your rides or charging spots a bit carefully.
