MG Motor-Tata Power Partnership Inaugurate First Superfast Charging Station


The superfast charging station will charge vehicles with CCS/ CHAdeMO fast-charging standards

  • MG Motor India and Tata Power partnered up for deploying 50kW DC superfast charging stations in India.

  • Their first superfast charging station has been set up in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

  • The charging station can juice up the MG ZS EV up to 80 percent in 50 minutes.

MG Motor India in partnership with Tata Power have inaugurated their first power station as a part of their deployment programme of 50 KW DC superfast charging stations across the country. The charging station is set up for public use and can be used for all electric vehicles with CCS/ CHAdeMO fast-charging standards, including the MG ZS EV.

Individually, MG Motor India has a total of 10 superfast 50 kW charging stations across its dealerships in five cities: New Delhi- NCR, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Tata Power has set up more than 200 charging stations in 24 different cities under the EZ Charge brand and also has its own digital platform. The partnership between the two firms is expected to add more charging stations across the country. 

The MG ZS EV is powered by an electric motor that develops 143PS and 353Nm backed up with a 44.5kWh battery pack. It can be charged from 0-80 percent in 50 minutes and has a  claimed range of 340km. MG also took this opportunity to announce that it has rolled out more than 1,000 ZS EVs from its Halol plant in Gujarat. The ZS EV is currently priced from Rs 20.88 lakh (ex-showroom) and rivals the Hyundai Kona Electric and Tata Nexon EV.  

Delhi Government has exempted road tax on electric vehicles under the ‘Electric Vehicle Policy 2020’ encouraging customers to adopt EVs.
