MG Hector Prices Slashed Again, Now Starts At Rs 13.99 Lakh

The MG Hector seems like a product that is unsure of itself these days, as its pricing and variant list has been revised yet again. With the latest price change, the Hector’s entry price has been dropped by Rs 96,000 and the SUV now starts at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). 

Variant Reshuffle

Two new variants, called the ‘Shine Pro’ and ‘Select Pro’ have been introduced as the mid-trims replacing the ‘Shine’ and ‘Smart’ respectively. The Shine Pro and Select Pro are priced from Rs 16 lakh and Rs 17.30 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively, and are offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. Moreover, the new variants also feature more equipment packed over the replaced variants.

The new second-from-base Shine Pro variant, comes well-equipped for a lower-mid variant. It consists of 17-inch alloy wheels, a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a single-pane sunroof, push-button start, a 6-speaker sound system, LED projector headlights, sequential LED turn indicators, front and rear fog lights, and cruise control.

The new Select Pro trim, which is situated one-above the Shine Pro trim, boasts of larger 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, interior LED reading lights, connected car capabilities, and an 8-speaker sound system with woofer and amplifier over the variant below.

If you opt for the diesel engine option of the new variants, you will have to pay a premium of Rs. 20,000 over the replaced variants. Talking about the petrol variants, the Shine Pro is more affordable than the replaced Shine variant by Rs. 24,000. Meanwhile, the Select Pro is more expensive than the outgoing variant Smart by Rs 25,000.

MG Hector Plus Updates

The 3-row version of the MG Hector, the Hector Plus now has a new entry-level Style trim, which costs Rs 17 lakh and is limited to diesel manual configuration. It reduces the cost of the diesel variant by a massive Rs 2.40 lakh and is offered in both 6- and 7-seater configurations.

The 7-seater Hector Plus also offers the new Select Pro variant, replacing the outgoing Smart variant. The price increases for the petrol and diesel versions are Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively.

The massive price drops for the MG Hector will surely help the SUV attract fresh eyes as well as distract those that might have been considering its rivals. It has become especially attractive to those considering models from a segment below, compact SUVs, as the biggest price cuts for the Hector have been for its lower level variants priced below Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

The MG Hector rivals the likes of Tata Harrier, Mahindra Scorpio N, 5-seater XUV700 variants, and lower variants of the Jeep Compass. Meanwhile, the Hector Plus rivals the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and Hyundai Alcazar.
