Aprilia’s BS6 range of scooters are already on sale in the country

  • Aprilia has replaced the SR150 with the SR160.
  • There’s no cosmetic difference between BS4 and BS6 variants.
  • It now gets a minor cosmetic update.
  • BS6 variants cost around Rs 18,000 to Rs 21,000 more than before.
  • Aprilia has brought its BS6-compliant SR160 and the SR125 at Auto Expo 2020. The BS6 scooters are already on sale in the country, so it’s no surprise that Aprilia showcased these scooters at the expo. If you’re still in the dark about these scooters, here’s all you need to know.

What you are looking at are in fact the BS6-compliant Aprilias. We know they look exactly the same as the BS4 models, but these are the new SR160 and SR125. Anyway, Aprilia has now replaced the old SR150 with the new SR160, which is powered by a 160cc motor that belts out 0.4PS more than the SR150 at 11PS and makes 11.6Nm of torque. The SR125, on the other hand, is powered by the same engine and has the same underpinnings as the BS4 model. We have done a detailed story on the new Aprilia scooters, which you can read here

Now that you have seen what the (minor) changes are, how much do you think the new BS6-compliant Aprilias cost? Whatever number you thought of, we are pretty sure you are not even close to the final ex-showroom price. The Aprilia range now starts from Rs 85,431 and goes all the way up to Rs 1.06 lakh (ex-showroom). That’s a price hike of around Rs 18,000 to Rs 21,000! We guess Italian premiumness comes at a hefty price tag! Aprilia is also planning to enter the electric two-wheeler segment in India soon.
