2022 Aprilia SR 160 Spotted With Digital Instrument Console highlights

In our last interview with Diego Graffi, the CEO and MD of Piaggio vehicles said that the company had plans of updating the Aprilia and Vespa range with minor design tweaks, an LED headlight, and a full-digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity features. Cut to the present day, and it looks like the company is following through with its promise, considering the Aprilia SR 160 has been spotted testing with a full-digital instrument console. 

The console seen in the images seems to be the same LCD digital display from the SXR range. So you could expect readouts like average fuel consumption, range, overall fuel efficiency, ambient temperature, max speed clocked, two trip meters, tachometer, engine oil temperature, and battery voltage. We expect the console to be smartphone-compatible, which could give users access to turn-by-turn navigation, call/message alerts, and perhaps music controls. But that’s just a hunch right now.

What also isn’t confirmed is the full-LED headlight, blame it on the rear three-quarter view. But it wouldn’t be surprising if the 2022 Aprilia 160 does, in fact, come with one. The revised headlight may also necessitate minor design revisions to the front apron. The rest is expected to be as is.

The scooter will continue to be powered by the same BS6-compliant 160.03cc motor that belts out 11PS and 11.6Nm. The hardware is likely to remain unchanged as well.

Knowing Aprilia, it will likely ask for a massive premium (from Rs 10,000 - Rs 15,000) over the current-gen SR 160, which retails at Rs 1.06 lakh. This premium will bring the scooter on par with the upcoming Yamaha Aerox 155 that’s set to be launched in India tomorrow.
