Aprilia SXR 125 Overview

The Aprilia SXR 125 is Aprilia’s most affordable maxi-style scooter in India. It comes with the same chassis and design as the Aprilia SXR 160 but with a small 125cc engine.

Price: The Aprilia SXR 125 comes at a price of Rs 1,34,810 (ex-showroom) and in 4 colour options. The scooter is only available in a single variant.

Design: The Aprilia SXR 125 is a maxi-style scooter that incorporates design elements such as a beefy apron and large windshield, along with muscular rear body panels which are angled upwards. The exhaust is a chunky unit that fits in well with the maxi-style theme but the heat shield feels out of place due to the chrome finish.

Features: The SXR 125 being the smaller sibling of the SXR 160 comes with the same set of features, from the digital instrument cluster, all-LED lighting and alloy wheels. There’s also the addition of a USB charging port and apron-mounted glove box.

Engine: The engine powering the SXR 125 is a 124.4cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that outputs 9.61PS at 7500rpm and 10.19Nm at 5400rpm. The fuel tank on the SXR 125 has a capacity of 7 litres.

Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The SXR 125 is built on the same chassis as the SXR 160 and shares a lot of similarities with it. The suspension setup comprises a telescopic fork and single hydraulic rear shock absorber. Braking duties are handled by a 220mm disc up front and 140mm drum at the rear, instead of single-channel ABS like the SXR 160, the scooter gets a combined braking system (CBS). The scooter comes with tubeless 120-section tyres wrapped on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends.

The Aprilia SXR 125 is the most affordable maxi-style scooter from the Italian manufacturer in India. It is based on the Aprilia SXR 160 and comes with a lot of similar design elements and features. Here’s all you need to know about this scooter.

Design

At first glance there isn’t much that differentiates the SXR 125 from the SXR 160. Both scooters use the same chassis and maxi-scooter style design language. The SXR 125 features an overall beefy design with angular bodywork and is quite the head-turner, but except for the smaller engine there’s nothing different from the SXR 160. Aprilia could have added in a few unique design elements to make the SXR 125 stand out.

Engine mileage and performance

The SXR 125 is powered by a 124.4cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that outputs 9.61PS at 7500rpm and 10.19Nm at 5400rpm. The engine is able to offer good acceleration in the city and the performance overall is quite decent. It can easily meet commuting needs, but the 125cc displacement seems a bit small for something designed to look like a high-capacity European maxi-scooter. 

Handling and ride quality

The telescopic fork and rear shock absorber suspension setup is able to handle most bumps and potholes with ease, and riders don’t have to worry about bad road conditions. The brakes are quite responsive too, and the rider doesn't have to put too much pressure on the levers to get the scooter to a stop. 

Comfort

The Aprilia SXR 125 is able to ensure good comfort to the rider and pillion thanks to its long single-piece contoured seat. The riding posture is upright and allows for comfortable rides in the city and on the highway. The flat floorboard that the scooter comes with allows for small luggage items to be stowed. So in terms of comfort the SXR 125 is a decent scooter.

Features

The Aprilia SXR is equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster displaying the speed, time, temperature, and fuel level, along with other readouts like tripmeters, top and average speed, and average mileage. The scooter also comes with full LED lighting and a USB charging port  but overall this isn’t really impressive. Aprilia could have given it smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, like other scooters in the 125cc segment.

Should you buy the SXR 125

The Aprilia SXR is a good option for those looking for a maxi-style scooter with good performance and comfort. That said,  there’s nothing much the SXR125 offers, and its only rival, the Suzuki Burgman Street 125, not only packs more features but is also much more affordable.

Affordable price and comfortable

The Aprilia SXR 125 is an extremely comfortable motorcycle with all the features that riders could want. Its responsive brakes with comfortable and absorbent suspension, and superb riding posture round out its features. It is a maxi style scooter with excellent performance at a cost that is affordable in price. Its engine accelerates quickly in cities and rides well on rough terrain, despite lacking of modern features. The long single piece seat is really good in terms of both comfort and functionality and has good spacing for the two occupants.

a reliable riding companion

my father gifted me aprilia sxr 125 on my 19th birthday and I liked it sporty design with a unique colour combination. it has a decent mile Jo 40 kilometer per litre which is normal for it 125 cc scooter. the main thing which I liked is the sitting poster as I can easily do long rides comfortably. however submit find the pricing to be little bit expensive as compared to the 125 cc scooters but I think the features and the performance makes it worth it.

Perfect package expensive scooter

This scooter does not offer only strong performance but also safety with the ABS and the brakes gives one of the best experience and this scooter gives me best performance in all way. This expensive scooter gives perfect package for the high price it offers and it look really nice but it does not feel quick like other 125 cc scooters. The power delivery is linear and at highway it is pretty decent.

Most attractive look

It is one of the most unique and attractive looking scooter and from the front side it look like a bike and is a perfect sporty looking scooter. It is fully filled with the modern features and is a very fun to ride scooter in the city but the price is very high. This scooter is very comfortable and is very easy to ride in the traffic but the suspension is not comfortable. The handling of this scooter is fantastic but the ride quality is not good.
