15,000 Buyers Put Money Down For The Maruti Jimny

• India-spec Maruti Jimny is a five-door SUV that was unveiled at Auto Expo 2023. 

• Offered in Zeta and Alpha trim levels in manual and automatic variants. 

• Powered by a 105PS K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine and Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4x4 system. 

• Launch expected by May, to be priced from Rs 10 lakh onwards (ex-showroom). 

It hasn’t even been a full month since the Maruti Jimny broke cover at Auto Expo 2023, but the SUV has already racked up 15,000 bookings in the country. That’s an impressive feat for a niche lifestyle off-roader, but to us, it’s no wonder, since many enthusiasts must’ve been waiting for the long-overdue SUV for months, if not years. 

The Jimny has been available to order in India ever since its unveiling on January 12 for a token amount of Rs 25,000. We expect the SUV to be officially launched by May, priced from around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). First deliveries should begin soon after the launch. 

Given the Jimny’s long wheelbase, five-door practicality and iconic, cutesy aesthetics, you don’t have to be a gearhead to appreciate the ride. But if you are, the Jimny is one of the most capable off-roaders you can buy (or at least order) right now, equipped with a low-range transfer case, rigid front and rear axles and Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro four-wheel-drive system (4x4 or 4WD) as standard.

In India, the Jimny is being offered in Zeta and Alpha trim levels with features such as a nine-inch infotainment touchscreen with Arkamys-tuned audio system, climate control, cruise control and keyless entry. It gets six airbags, stability control, hill assist and hill descent control as standard.
