Expert's Conclusion
Renault’s Triber packs in solid value, offering a lot of car for not much money. It could do with some more features, and a stronger engine for roadtrips but at least we now have an AMT for easier city commuting.
Renault Triber Expert Review
The Renault Triber is quite a unique offering. While it is similar in size to hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, it is a 3-row vehicle like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, capable of seating up to 7 passengers. For the same price as a Renault Triber, you could also buy a Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Fronx or Tata Punch.
The Triber’s core value add is that it offers seating for 7 people whereas its price alternatives are 5-seaters only. However, the Triber is not a direct competitor to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga as it is a smaller vehicle and won’t be as comfortable at seating more than 5 passengers. The Triber is offered only with a petrol engine paired with a manual transmission or automated manual transmission, driving only the front wheels. The Renault Triber also has a 4-star crash safety rating from Global NCAP.
Looks
The Renault Triber's design is straightforward but unique. It strikes a balance between the sleek lines of a modern hatchback and the practicality of a family vehicle. When you look at it, you will notice the shiny chrome-accented front grille, stylish headlamps, and a well-shaped bonnet. The chrome accents on the front grille add a touch of sophistication, giving the Triber a more upmarket look.
From the side profile, the Triber looks a little bit like an MPV but Renault has delivered an intelligent design as it still looks well proportioned.
The roof rails, body cladding, and side mirrors with integrated turn signals add a sporty touch to the overall design. The 182mm ground clearance is good for most Indian roads, and 15-inch wheels complete the look.
Interior
The Renault Triber's interior design is its strong point. Step inside, and you'll find a surprisingly spacious cabin for a car of its size. The flexible seating options are a highlight, allowing different configurations to meet various passenger and cargo needs.
The Triber can seat seven people in a 2+3+2 arrangement, making it a suitable option for larger families or those who often travel with a group. The third-row seats can be used by adults but work better for shorter trips. It is, however, ideally suited for kids. Alternatively, you can remove the 3rd row seats completely and use the space for luggage. Thankfully, Renault offers a one-touch tumble forward 2nd row seat (co-driver’s side only), so it’s easy to get into the last row.
The second-row seats offer decent space for adults under 6ft in height, though underthigh support could’ve been better. Overall, the cabin is roomy, and the large windows allow plenty of natural light inside, creating an open and pleasant atmosphere.
The materials used in the cabin are decent, given the car's price range, although they may not feel as soft to the touch as those offered in only slightly more expensive cars. The hard plastics in the interior are not plush but are sturdy and well put together.
Technology
The tech package of the Triber covers the basics with some noteworthy highlights. The touchscreen infotainment system, available in higher models, offers features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it modern and convenient. The dashboard layout is user-friendly, and the controls are easy to use.
Safety
The Renault Triber does reasonably well when it comes to safety. It comes with several safety features, especially in higher trim levels. The standard safety features include dual front airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution), rear parking sensors, and a high-speed warning alert.
Some advanced safety features, such as electronic stability control, hill start assist, and tyre-pressure monitoring also come as standard. Side airbags, however, are reserved for the top, RxZ variant. Global NCAP has crash tested the Renault Triber and gave it 4/5 stars for adult occupant safety and 3/5 stars for child occupant safety.
Drive
The Renault Triber is powered by a 1-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 72PS and 96Nm of torque. While this engine is relatively small, it's sufficient for city driving and light highway use. The Triber's engine is efficient and provides good fuel economy, making it a budget-friendly option for those who are concerned about running costs.
In city driving, the Triber's engine is responsive and provides a smooth, gradual increase in power. It's easy to navigate through traffic, thanks to the light steering, and the compact size makes parking a breeze. The 5-speed manual transmission is smooth and precise, while the 5-speed automatic (AMT) version offers convenience for those who prefer automatic transmissions. The AMT, however, is evidently a cost-centric solution to offering the convenience of an automatic. It’s a little slow to respond and you can feel the gear changes.
On the highway, the Triber handles moderate speeds comfortably, but it might struggle with overtaking maneuvers, especially when fully loaded with passengers. It's important to note that this car is primarily designed for city and suburban use. As is the case with most Renault cars, the suspension setup is well-tuned for Indian roads, providing a comfortable and compliant ride.
Verdict
The Renault Triber delivers great value for money. This car offers a lot for the price, making it a compelling choice for budget-conscious families and individuals. The combination of a spacious cabin, flexible seating, and an affordable price tag makes it an excellent option for those who need a versatile vehicle without overspending. With the Triber, Renault has successfully found a balance between affordability and practicality without sacrificing style and features.

More Bang for Your Buck
The Renault Triber has been a part of my life for over a year nownow and it is been quite the practical companion. As someone who values both space and economy the Triber ticked all the right boxes with its incredibly flexible seating that can accommodate up to seven passengers making it perfect for family outings. Despite its compact dimensions the interior feels roomy. Plus its fuel efficiency is commendable offering about 18-20 km/l which is great for budget conscious buyers like me. However the Triber is not without drawbacks. When fully loadedthe engine does feel underpowered especially on inclines or highways.

next level quality rides
My partner Renault Triber is the king in its segment. It is mainly known for good fuel efficiency, especially in the city. I experienced that the mileage is around 17-18 kmpl in the city and 20-23 kmpl on highways . While it is not a powerhouse, the engine offers zippy acceleration for city traffic . If we talk about its comfort it can vary depending on seat configuration. The first two rows are comfortable for most passengers. The third-row seats are best suited for children on shorter trips
