BMW will launch a new motorcycle which will be a cheaper entry-level spec of the BMW R nineT that was launched last year. The BMW R nineT scrambler was unveiled at the Wheels & Waves custom bike festival in Biarritz, France. Although unveiled as a custom concept with components from Roland Sands Design, the motorcycle gave us a glimpse of what the upcoming bike will consist of. BMW have used cheaper components on the BMW R nineT scrambler to reduce the pricing of the bike. Instead of the Ohlins sourced upside down forks on the standard bike, the BMW R nineT scrambler featured an Ohlins telescopic front forks. Also at the rear it features a piggy-back Ohlins shock and the bike runs on alloy wheels as opposed to the wired wheels as seen on the standard bike.
The cost cutting in hardware means that the BMW R nineT scrambler will be around Rs 1 lakh cheaper than the stock motorcycle that retails for almost Rs 12 lakh in the UK market. Mechanically the bike remains untouched and continues to be powered by the 1,170cc flat twin motor churning out 110PS and 119Nm of peak torque.
