The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa is more of an evolution than a revolution

[UPDATE: Suzuki has launched the 2021 Hayabusa at a phenomal price point of Rs 16.40 lakh (ex-showroom India). Head here to know when it will reach your nearest Suzuki dealership.]

  • Unofficial bookings for the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa began in February.
  • Expect it to be priced at around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
  • Features a whole suite of electronic aids, better underpinnings, and a tweaked design.

Suzuki is all set to launch the next-generation legendary Dhoom bike, the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa, in India tomorrow. The motorcycle is expected to enter our shores via the CBU route, unlike the CKD way last time. Hence, the pricing is also likely to be on the slightly premium side, presumably around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

It doesn’t have any natural rival since the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R doesn’t comply with BS6-emission norms yet. That said, the Triumph Rocket 3 does come close in extremity. Unofficial bookings opened back in February itself

For 2021, Suzuki has tinkered with the previous-generation Hayabusa, making the bike a little more wholesome. Its curvy silhouette remains the same, but the bodywork is sharper and slightly tauter than before. The BS6-compliant 1340cc inline four-cylinder engine gets a revised combustion chamber and tweaked cam profile and piston to make it a little more livable, not to mention more fuel-efficient. At 190PS and 150Nm, it churns out 10PS and 5Nm less than before.

But more importantly, Suzuki has emphasised making the powerplant a lot more usable with the addition of six rider modes, ten-level traction control, a six-axis IMU, wheelie control, engine braking, and launch control. To keep up with the times, the instrument cluster has also been revised with a TFT dash. Thankfully, the twin-pod analogue speedometer and tachometer have been retained for that old-school authenticity. The headlamp is sleeker, and the lighting system is all-LED.

The motorcycle gets updated underpinnings in premium Brembo Stylema calipers clamping on the dual 320mm front discs. It also gets new Bridgestone S22 tyres for optimum grip. If you’re wondering what else is new in Suzuki’s latest hypersport, check this out.
