The baby Bonnie looks quite similar to its bigger siblings

The upcoming Triumph Bonneville 400 has been spotted testing in India again. From the looks of it, the Bonnie 400 shares a lot of design cues with its bigger counterpart, the Triumph Bonneville T100.

As per the previous spy shots, Bonnie 400 gets the classic roadster silhouette. It features a teardrop-shaped fuel tank and a pea-shooter-style exhaust, which goes well with the overall design of the roadster.

The spy shots have also revealed that, unlike any other Triumph bike in the 400 cc lineup, the upcoming Bonneville 400 uses an all-new chassis, swingarm and rear subframe. With these changes the bike features a more comfortable riding position and rear seat for the pillion. The riding triangle looks relaxed with centre-set footpegs and an upright riding position, which should be comfortable while riding long distances.

The bike is suspended on a telescopic fork with gaiters, which complements the bike’s fascia well. The rear is taken care of by twin shock absorbers, and for braking duties there are discs at both ends. The bike rolls on spoked wheels, which are expected to be 17-inch units.

Engine

The Bonneville 400 will be powered by a 349 cc engine in India. Whereas in the international market, it is to get the 398 cc engine that churns out 31 PS and 36 Nm, and will get a similar tune as the affordable Triumph Speed T4.

Launch timeline

Triumph motorcycles have not revealed the launch timeline yet. But we can expect the motorcycle to launch before the festive season. It is expected to be priced around the ballpark of Rs 2.60 lakh to Rs 2.70 lakh (ex-showroom).

Once launched, it will rival the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda CB350, and Jawa 350.Also, the baby Bonnie will be manufactured in Bajaj’s Chakan plant and also be exported internationally.
