We’ve seen popular car manufacturers making motorcycles, manufacturers excelling in making both cars and bikes. That said, these heavy-industries dabbling in food making is something that never fails to make the common-man go wide-eyed. Some might be aware of the little-known fact of Volkswagen making sausages for their own workers. However, Suzuki has done one better by launching a range of Indian curries of all things! It has partnered with a Japanese restaurateur and wedding venue company Torizen and has come up with an assorted range of curries connecting some of its iconic bikes and four-wheelers.
The brand is now offering 4 curries: Daikon Radish Sambar, Tomato Dal curry, Channa Masala and Moong Dal Green, each coming in a unique Suzuki car and bike themed package.
The South Indian equivalent of “chicken soup for the soul” is definitely a bowl of piping hot sambar to go with soft idlis or crispy dosas - depending on what you’re into. Folks from Kerala and Tamil Nadu appreciate a soulful spice in sambar whereas Kannadigas like a zest of sweetness in it.

What Suzuki seems to have done is find a neat middleground with a Spiciness level rated at 3 out of 5. As a Keralite myself, I hope this sambar is reasonably spicy, as it should be. Idlis can be objectively bland, but sambar effortlessly makes it delicious, just like how the Hayabusa defies physics without breaking a sweat.
We all know how delicious and mouth-watering a simple and well-made dal can be. It’s a dish that is loved by people from all over India for its comforting nature. And there’s no better way to associate this dish with the Maruti Swift, which, despite its sporty nature, is known for its comfortable ride quality. Suzuki has rated this dish’s spiciness level as 2 out of 5 – which is not unmanageably spicy, but is just as easy as the Swift is to drive.

Punjabis love a good thali of chole (channa) bhature as much as they love SUVs. Suzuki has married the two perfectly with the Maruti Jimny themed Channa Masala. With a spiciness level of 4, this dish is sure to burst with flavours, just like how impressive the Jimny can be when conquering difficult trails. Do note that the Bhature will cost you extra, just like those massive aftermarket wheels for the Jimny. And if you salad (read: off-road accessories), be prepared to shell out more!

There’s nothing which says versatility more than moongdal. It just works with anything - be it rice or rotis. It can also work well as a soothing bowl that gives a warm hug to your spirits. Suzuki has decided to go with the V-Strom 1050DE for this package, and in a way it really is a ‘moong dal’ of bikes. It’s a do-it-all bike that lets you explore beyond where the roads end - a perfect therapy after a tough day.

Suzuki launching a range of Indian curries in Japan was totally unexpected and comes off as a pleasant surprise. The brand had in the past collaborated with Torizen to serve vegetarian Indian dishes for employees from India. Now, folks in Japan have the option to buy them online via Suzuki’s online Japan store. Rice is a staple in Japan, and curries like Sambar would go well with it.

Preparing the curry is as simple as pouring boiling water into the curry bags, sealing it and waiting for a few minutes - similar to making cup noodles. This initiative will also make it easier for Indians who are homesick to get good quality Indian food that they can quickly prepare at home. Another cool bit about the packets is that there's a hidden painting which becomes visible when you stack all 4 flavours together. The price of an individual packet comes to 918 Yen which is around Rs 532.
