Adult protection

Both the Harrier and Safari scored full five stars for both adult and child protection, with scores of 33.05/34 and 45/49, respectively. In the frontal impact test, the driver and passenger’s head, neck, knee, showed good protection along with the same remark for the passenger’s tibias. Both front occupants’ chest and driver’s tiabias received adequate protection rating. The critical remark here has to be the stable rating for the footwell area and bodyshell, which has been rated as capable of withstanding further loadings.

Side impact revealed good protection for all body parts, while the side pole test showed marginal chest and adequate abdomen protection. The curtain airbags met the requirements and also offered good protection for the head and pelvis area.

Child protection

In terms of child protection, the seats for both the 18-month and 3-year old were installed facing rearwards. Both were able to fully prevent any exposure to the head during the frontal impact test. They also offered full protection in the side impact test.
