  • Q. What is the quality of Maruti Ertiga
    Zigwheels | 7 months ago

The new Ertiga is based on Suzuki’s Heartect platform, which Maruti says is more rigid yet lightweight than the previous platform. The new platform is the same one that underpins the current Dzire and Swift. There is a noticeable improvement in the way the Ertiga maintains a straight line on highways at higher speeds, and one of the reasons for it could be the new chassis. Since we managed to drive it mostly on straight roads, we’re not sure how good or bad the body roll is when compared to the older version, or how much feedback the steering offers. The other noticeable improvement is in the way it dismisses road uncertainties. There is a firmness in the suspension setup compared to the older version, but it’s just enough to not make the ride bumpy. The car settles down quickly after negotiating a bad patch and that should keep third-row occupants more happy in the new Ertiga than in the older model. It’s also good to see the suspension (front) not crashing when hitting a big pothole the way it did in the first-gen model.

The claimed ARAI mileage for the Maruti Ertiga petrol is 19 kmpl, and for the Maruti Ertiga diesel is 25 kmpl.Maruti Suzuki has widened the appeal of the Dzire by having ironed out the major shortcomings of the previous Swift Dzire – interior space and looks. The new Dzire looks premium inside-out and has enough equipment to match its appeal. However, the lower variants are still competitive and it now comes with ABS and airbags as standard. Compact sedans don’t get any more polished than this. A spacious cabin, comfortable ride, feel-good features and a hassle-free ownership experience - the Dzire promises it all. The claimed ARAI mileage for the Maruti Dzire petrol is 22 kmpl, and for the Maruti Dzire diesel is 28 kmpl.Do take the test drive for both the cars in order to pick the best as per your needs and requirements.

Dzire and Ertiga both the cars are in different price range and also in different category. If you want a 7 seater car than ertiga is good.

  • Q. Is the engine power same as the old version...are some new features added?
    Zigwheels | 9 months ago

The all new Ertiga will continue to be powered by the same 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder 92PS/130Nm K14B petrol, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The diesel variants, on the other hand, will be powered by the 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged 90PS/200Nm D13A SmartHybrid engine paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. There aren’t many new features on the new Ertiga. It retains the second row roof-mounted A/C vents, push-button start/stop, keyless entry, rear parking sensors, dual airbags, ABS, EBD, height adjustable front seatbelts, split- and flat-folding second and third-row seats.All-new features include LED projector headlamps, LED brake lamps, ventilated front cup holders and front power/USB power outlets from the Swift/Dzire. Additional safety equipment includes new electronic stability program (ESP) and ISOFIX child anchorage points on the second-row seats.

The second-gen Ertiga is powered by a brand new 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 105PS of max power and 138Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine, on the other hand, continues to be the same 1.3-litre unit that makes 89PS of maximum power and 200Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed MT, while the petrol engine is available with a 4-speed automatic transmission as well. The claimed mileage figures for the new Ertiga are: 19.34kmpl (petrol MT), 18.69kmpl (petrol AT) and 25.47kmpl (Diesel MT).
