Suzuki, the Japanese two-wheeler giant, has updated its entry-level cruiser, the Intruder 150, with a fuel-injection system. As expected, it is the same unit that the bike maker offers with the Suzuki Gixxer SF. It is expected to hit the showrooms in the coming months.
The 155cc, air-cooled and fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine produces 14.8PS of power at 8000rpm and 14Nm of torque at 6000rpm and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Expect the power delivery to be a lot smoother with the Intruder 150 Fi. It could also turn out to be a slightly more fuel efficient when compared to the outgoing model.
Now, calling the Intruder 150 Fi a head-turner would be an understatement. Yes, its design is quite divisive. One can either fall head-over-heels with it or just hate the sight of it. The design is inspired by its bigger sibling, the Intruder M1800. The headlamp houses halogen bulbs with LED DRLs while the rear sports an LED tail lamp. The digital instrument cluster is derived from the Suzuki Gixxer. And while the handlebars have been swept back, the seat is placed quite low while the footpegs are pushed forward to provide a cruiser-like riding position. Like its bigger sibling, the fuel tank sports a curvy yet muscular look. This gives the Intruder 150 Fi the impression of a much more powerful motorcycle. However, the bulky exhaust cans look a bit out of place thanks to the thin 17-inch tubeless tyres the cruiser comes shod with.
Suspension duties are handled by 41mm telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock unit with preload adjustment at the back. The cruiser also gets disc brakes at the front and rear along with single-channel ABS.
Suzuki is showcasing a bunch of motorcycles here at the Auto Expo. Be sure to check them out at Hall No 2. Meanwhile, stay tuned to ZigWheels as we put the Intruder 150Fi through its paces while also comparing it against the carb version.
