The BS6-compliant cruiser makes 1.2PS and 0.2Nm less than the BS4 model

  • The Suzuki Intruder BS6 makes the same amount of power and torque as the 155cc Gixxer BS6
  • Interestingly, the kerb weight of the bike has gone up by 3kg.
  • Suzuki is likely to launch the bike in the beginning of next month.
  • Intruder BS6 expo

As a part of Suzuki’s BS6 onslaught, the Japanese manufacturer has unveiled the Intruder BS6 at the Auto Expo 2020. Sadly, the motorcycle looks the same as the BS4 model, which itself was a tad polarising. And what’s even more unfortunate is that the Intruder BS6 makes less power and slightly less torque in favour of complying with BS6 emission norms. The bookings have already commenced and one can reserve one's bike at the expo stall too. Expect Suzuki to launch the motorcycle in the beginning of next month. It is likely to cost around Rs 3,000- Rs 4,000 more than the BS4 model, which retails at Rs 108,162 for the FI variant (ex-showroom Delhi).

The motorcycle comes with the same 155cc air-cooled fuel-injected motor as the recently-launched 155cc Gixxer BS6. It generates 13.6PS at 8000rpm and 13.8Nm at 6000rpm. In comparison, the BS4-compliant Intruder generates 14.8PS and 14Nm at the same rev range. Also, the kerb weight has been increased from 149kg to 152kg, presumably due to the emission controlling equipment in the motorcycle.

    Intruder BS6 expo rear

The Suzuki Intruder BS6 retains the same underpinnings as the BS4 model. This includes a telescopic front fork, rear monoshock and disc brakes on both ends. It gets a single-channel ABS as standard. The 17-inch alloys also ride on the same 100-section front and 140-section radial rear tyre as before. The fuel tank capacity has remained unchanged at 11 litres, and even the external dimensions have been untouched. There have been no changes as far as the feature list is concerned either. We'd have liked if Suzuki had included a full-LED headlamp at the least.

Its primary rival will be the Bajaj Avenger Street 220, which looks the part of a traditional laidback cruiser and features a bigger motor too.
