Has Suzuki offered any tangible features apart from a cleaner motor?

Intruder differences

After its debut at Auto Expo 2020, the Suzuki Intruder 150 BS6 has finally been launched in India. It is priced at Rs 1.20 lakh, making it Rs 11,838 dearer than the Intruder 150 BS4. So what’s exactly different between the two models?

More eco-friendly, less powerful:

Intruder BS6 engine

The Suzuki Intruder BS6 comes with a BS6-compliant fuel-injected engine, which churns out 13.6PS at 8000rpm and 13.8Nm at 6000rpm. Comparatively, the Suzuki Intruder BS4 produces 1.2PS and 0.2Nm more at the same rpm.

Now, the interesting thing is that the BS4-compliant version was already fuel-injected. Both bikes use a 5-speed transmission.

Same underpinnings:

Suzuki has retained the same set of underpinnings in the BS6-compliant Intruder. Like the BS4 model, the BS6 bike gets the same telescopic front fork, rear monoshock, and disc brake on both ends with a single-channel ABS as standard. The 17-inch alloy wheels are shod with the same 100-section front and 140-section rear radial tyre as before.

Thanks to the addition of emission-restrictive components, the kerb weight has gone up from 149kg to 152kg. Apart from this, the rest of the dimensions have remained unchanged.

Sadly, no new features either:

A lot of manufacturers try to justify the inevitable price hike by offering tangible features in their two-wheelers. That is not the case here. Despite a premium of Rs 11,838, the BS6 Intruder 150 does not get any new features. It retains the same halogen headlamp with LED DRL, fully digital instrument cluster with gear position indicator, fuel level, speedometer, tripmeter, odometer, tachometer and clock. We’d have liked it if the instrument cluster had displayed the real-time and average fuel efficiency.

Like before, it also gets a cushioned backrest to ensure optimum pillion comfort. Even the colour schemes have remained unchanged. It is available in three colours: black/brown, black/red and brown/black dual-tone colours. Suzuki should’ve offered an LED headlamp and new colour schemes to justify the price hike at least to a certain extent.
