The Skoda Kushaq, which comes in three broad variants, has reached some dealerships. Seen in these images is the mid-spec Ambition which sits bang in between the Active and Style. In this report, we explain what’s on offer in this variant and how it differs from the top-spec Style.

Viewed head-on, the Ambition and Style look pretty similar thanks to their identical LED headlamps and cornering fog lamps. However, the keen eyed will notice that the mid-spec variant lacks the chrome elements around the faux airdams of the Style.

The blingy stuff around the glass area and door handles have been given the boot in the Ambition. Also, it rides on 16-inch monotone alloy wheels when compared to the Style’s nicer looking 17-inch machined units. The glossy black ‘SKODA’ badge in the front fender has been retained, though.

The Ambition relies on incandescent bulbs for its tail lamps rather than LEDs in the Style. Also, the chrome strip connecting both the reflectors are limited to the top-spec Style.

Open the door and you’ll notice that the mid-spec Kushaq Ambition can be started up by using a key instead of a button. Also, the seats come finished in black with orange and grey striped fabric. Leather and ventilated seats for front row occupants are limited to the top-spec Style.

The dashboard design and layout is the same between models. That said, the piano black trim in the co-driver side has been replaced with a silver trim. And since the Ambition doesn’t come with ventilated seats, the buttons above the climate control are just dummies.

Rear seat occupants are also taken care of with AC vents, an armrest with cup holders, and two USB-C charging ports.

Other notable features the Ambition misses out on is a sunroof, wireless phone charger, a subwoofer, auto headlamps and wipers, side and curtain airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and auto dimming IRVM.

However, it still comes with all the essentials including a 10-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, cruise control, a 3.5-inch multi-info display, remote locking, and ambient lighting.

Passenger safety is taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a rear view camera, and hill hold control (limited to AT).

The Kushaq Ambition can be had with the 115PS 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine only. Skoda offers this variant with both the 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic. Opting for the latter brings paddle shifters to the table, which can be fun on winding roads. The larger 150PS 1.5-litre TSI unit is limited to the top-spec Style.

The Kushaq Ambition is priced at Rs 12.79 lakh for the manual and Rs 14.19 lakh for the automatic (both prices, ex-showroom). Do you think this variant offers a good value for money proposition? Let us know in the comments below. To know the prices of other variants, head here.
