Changes are exclusive to the C 200 and C 220d in Progressive trim and the C 300d AMG Line

  • The C 200 and C 220d gains wireless charging, 9-speaker sound system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
  • It also gets memory function for the driver and passenger seats.
  • The C 300d AMG Line gets all the above mentioned features along with Night Package and 18-inch AMG wheels.
  • Both the updated trim lines will go on sale from next month.

It's been five long years since the current iteration C-Class made its global debut. Mercedes-Benz is already working on the next-gen C-Class that is destined for a 2020 unveil. In an attempt to fend off competition from its home turf, especially from BMW’s brand spanking new 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz India will be updating the C-Class with new features. The update is focussed only on two variants: C300D AMG Line and the C 200/C 220d Progressive.

The C-Class in India is available as:

  • Prime (C 200 and C 220d)
  • Progressive (C 200 and C 220d)
  • C 300d AMG Line
  • C 43 AMG coupe
  • C 63S AMG with the thunderous V8

As we mentioned, the new changes are exclusive to the C 200/C 220d in Progressive trim and C 300d AMG Line. The former gets wireless charging, Midline sound system with 9 speakers, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and memory function for the driver and passenger seats. The C 300d AMG Line meanwhile gains the Night Package (blacked out exterior bits), 18-inch AMG wheels with black finish along with wireless charging, Midline sound system with 9 speakers, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

The C 200 uses a 1.5-litre inline-four petrol unit producing 184PS while the C 220d gets a 2.0-litre inline-four  diesel pushing out 194PS. The range-topping diesel C 300d, meanwhile, produces a healthy 245PS from a 2.0-litre inline-four diesel unit. Both the diesel engines are BS6 compliant while the 1.5-litre petrol engine will soon be updated to make it comply with the upcoming BS6 emission norms.
