In the latest edition of Zig performance comparison, we line up the new Mahindra XUV 3XO and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. This is an interesting drag race because the 3XO packs a turbo-petrol engine, while the Brezza gets a naturally aspirated petrol engine. Which model crosses the line first?

Let’s find out. But before that…

Spec Check

Maruti Suzuki Brezza

1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol T-GDI

1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder

5-speed MT / 6-speed AT

On paper, thanks to its turbocharged petrol engine, the XUV 3XO makes 27PS and a whopping 113Nm more than the Brezza. That said, the Brezza has a party trick: a mild-hybrid system which torque-assists the engine while pushing it hard. In this test, we compare both the automatic variants of the subcompact SUV.

Thanks to its power advantage, the XUV 3XO, in the 0-100kmph run, was a whopping four seconds quicker than the Brezza. That’s quite a distance! But in the roll-on acceleration, the gap between both the cars reduces to a second, so the Mahindra again manages to edge ahead of the Maruti.
