Editor's View of Renault KWID

  • Upside

Funky and muscular styling is attractive. Long features list makes it a great VFM proposition. Compact dimensions and light controls make it easy to drive in the city.

  • Downside

Engines lack punch especially out on the highway. AMT is sluggish

  • Our Verdict

The Kwid is a great first car, looks great and sports some nice features but the driving experience isn't the best.

Overall 4.3/5 The car is compact and suitable for a family for 4 for city rides comfortably. You can zip In and out of traffic happily. Compared to eon and alto or the new maruti espresso this is much more stylish and has mini SUV like stance. Steering is sporty, has adequate comfort. Mileage is excellent at 22-25kmpl. AC is also good. Lighting can be upgraded for highway driving. Not much body roll. The 2019 + models get much more engine refinement and cabin noise insulation and the car is pretty much silent. Overtaking suddenly with load may be a little disappointing In the 800Cc model as it is little undepowered which is expected since the displacement is lower at 800Cc.Cons : stiffer suspension, body rattle if not properly maintained. Not suitable for high-speed due to light weight and average breaking.

Honestly i bought this car on 18th august 2020 and since that day i was experiencing some noise from the front shock and some ratteling sound from the engine when the ac.Was turned on.After 1 1/2 year my problem was solved by replacing the lower arm after taking the car to service station 4 times, But the ac.Problem still remains.I am sure renault is using worn out parts in their new cars and there is no quality control or a check before delivery of a new car.I would personally advice not to buy renault cars it's a total waste.Further one can always see the reviews of others also. But from my experience its a big no to renault.

I have bought this car in december 2020, Mileage is fair enough, Gives about 13 kmpl in city. One thing that bothers me is the gear stick and the clutch pedal. The gear stick gives a kind of feedback for every time I accelerate and release the acceleration. The clutch pedal is as well a bit coarse whenever I am pushing it and there is squeaky sound as i apply it.

Must Read Questions & Answers Before Buying KWID

Q. Which car to choose, KWID, Santro or Wagon R?
  • All the three cars are good in their forte. The Kwid is a great first car, looks great and sports some nice features but the driving experience isn't the best. Whereas, Hyundai Santro has a smooth engine, easy-to-drive, well-equipped top-end variant, interior quality from a class-above. On the other hand, the Wagon R continues to be a sensible practical hatchback. It’s now stronger, more feature-loaded, more powerful and safer. Importantly, the prices have not gone up substantially. For a better understanding of compatibility and driving comfort, we would suggest you to take a test drive. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership.
Q. What is the on road price of Renault Kwid in CNG?
  • Renault offers the Kwid with the same two petrol engines as before: a 0.8-litre (54PS/72Nm) and a 1-litre (68PS/91Nm). While the former is mated to only a 5-speed manual, the latter gets both a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT. Moreover, there is no CNG variant available in Kwid.
Q. क्या रेनॉल्ट की कोई भी गाड़ी सीएनजी वैरीअंट में आती है?
  • For now, Renault offers their cars with petrol engines only. The diesel and CNG fuel types are not available.
More Questions
Q. Is Kwid available in CNG?
  • No there is no CNG or diesel yet. It is available only in petrol. You can alternatively get a branded CNG kit fitted outside at your convenience.

Q. I am confused between Tata Tiago and Renault Kwid. Can anyone help me out with this.?
  • Selecting between the Renault Kwid and Tata Tiago would depend on your preference of the segment, powertrain, required features, budget, usage, etc. Tiago is powered by a single 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that churns out 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque making it one of the powerful cars in its segment. It can be had either with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT automatic gearbox. Tiago offers one of the most attractive designs at this price point and the 4-stars in Global NCAP speaks highly about safety. On the other hand, Kwid is offered with a choice of two petrol engines - a 54PS 0.8-litre unit and a 68PS 1.0-litre option. While the smaller unit is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox, the bigger engine can also be had with a 5-speed AMT. If your budget allows, we would suggest you to opt for the Tata Tiago for its attractive design, powerful engine, safety tech and its great build quality. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.Read More: - Renault KWID vs Tata Tiago
  • I would say go for Tata Tiago. I test both Kwid and Tiago, and Tiago is definitely far better, strong and powerful.
  • Tiago for power, safety, features
Q. For how many KMs long can Renault KWID run non stop?
  • I traveled 3200 kms.........engine was on for continuous 49 hours.........dual drivers completed 3200 kms in 49 hours without switching off ignition
  • I travelled 1050 km with 3 stops of 20 minute and speed was 90 to 100 kmph, but sometimes it went upto 130
  • I traveled 1050 km with 3 stops for 20 minutes and speed is about 90 to 100 or some time it goes 130.😄😄
