This month, we will witness a lot of action in the sub-400cc space with a roadster, two streetfighters and a fancy Italian sports machine

Hot on the heels of the launch of the new Hero Karizma XMR 210 and depending on when you are watching this, the new Royal Enfield Bullet 350, September has a lot of exciting bikes planned. Starting with the Katoom!

KTM 390 Duke

I had seen it in the flesh while testing, I was hooked and the new specs have completely blown me over. The larger 399cc motor makes a little more power and a bit more torque but the expectation is more rideability all across the rev range.

Plus, the chassis is completely revamped, with better packaging now. So lower seat height, more ground clearance and lighter unsprung mass. All in all, it should be better for popping those mad wheelies and keeping you hooked on every ride.

It will be more expensive. The expectation is that it will now slot it between the RC 390 and the standard 390 Adventure. So Rs 3.30 lakh ex-showroom. And I hope this is with the adjustable USD forks included. If KTM does decide to get a bit greedy, expect a higher spec version with the sophisticated suspension coming in at a slightly higher price.

TVS Apache RTR 310

But before we get to ride the Duke, we will be getting a taste of TVS’s streetfighter: the Apache RTR 310. And before you say anything, this is not the BMW G 310 R in different colours. It is a completely new bike with the only similarity with the Beemer being the engine and maybe the suspension.

TVS have styled it to sort of mimic the Ducati Streetfighter V4, it will have more tech on board like ride modes, a colour TFT dash and turn by turn navigation, and it will hopefully be as rewarding to ride as the RTR 200 and 160 4V have been in the twisties. We are expecting to hear more on this bike on 6th August.

Aprilia RS440

Its about time Aprilia rolls out its first motorcycle for India and after moving the goalposts continuously from a 150cc to a 250 to 300 and now hopefully a 400cc bike, the Italian icon is ready to roll out the new RS 440.

Details about this bike are scarce but the bike that has been spotted looks like a shrunken RS660 in every possible manner. We can expect a lot of high-spec tech and componentry from Aprilia as the sportbike maker doesn’t take anything not seriously.

Expect this RS440 to be pricey though. Somewhere around the Rs 4.5 lakh mark. So it will still undercut the Kawasaki Ninja 400’s pricing but still it will be expensive. More details on this bike on 7th August and the India launch will take place later this month.

Royal Enfield Bullet 350

Now like I mentioned at the start, this video is dropping on the first which is when we get to know all the details of the new Bullet 350.

It is the longest continuously running motorcycle in history and this new avatar promises to be more special. It is birthed on the new J-platform, so expect it to carry the same charm and vibe as the Classic but with revised ergonomics and a few design elements.

I am not going to further bore you on this bike, just go and check out our launch story of the Bullet or head over to our Instagram for the more updates.

Kinetic e-Luna

Finally, the last two-wheeler we expect this month is the Kinetic e-Luna. Unlike the previous Luna, this electric moped will be first geared toward the B2B market and will then be available for personal use.

Its humble demeanour is matched by the performance capabilities, or so we expect. So top speed of 50kmph, 100km IDC range and easy rideability. This little runabout is expected to be priced around the Rs 80000-Rs 90000 mark and arrive by mid to late September.

Anything Else?

MotoGP is finally happening in India, so we are quite excited to see the phenoms setting the BIC on fire. Plus, we expect manufacturers to have some announcements surrounding the racing spectacle as well.

And finally, Ola’s S1 Pro Gen 2 and River Indie electric scooters deliveries are slated to take place this month as well.
