The R2 launch is closer than ever, and here’s everything you should know about the upcoming bike

Yamaha is set to launch the R2 in India on August 27, and it can now be prebooked for Rs 10,000 on Yamaha’s website. Also, first 100 customers to prebook the bike could get a chance to meet Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP riders Alex Rins and Fabio Quartararo.

If you are looking to book the bike, here is what you need to know:

Bigger Engine

The Yamaha R2 should get a 200cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, based on the R15. It is expected to come with a 6-speed gearbox and VVA technology. The R2 will be sold alongside the R15.

Sporty Hardware

It should get a Deltabox frame, an inverted fork, and a linked monoshock. The bike will roll on 17-inch wheels with disc brakes at both ends, while dual-channel ABS and switchable traction control could be offered.

Features & Price

The Yamaha R2 is expected to come well-equipped with a TFT console, with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and a ride-by-wire throttle. With an expected (ex-showroom) price of Rs 2.15 lakh. The pricing undercuts the KTM RC 200. And rivals the likes of Hero Karizma XMR and Bajaj RS 200.
