It gets a battery pack that’s bigger than the one on the Ultraviolette F77!

Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric Specifications Revealed

The Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric has been undergoing tests for a long time. There has been equal amounts of intrigue, awe and skepticism whether the very idea of an electric adventure bike makes sense or not. Well, laying all these feelings to rest, our sources have revealed quite a few interesting aspects of the electric motorcycle exclusively, including impressions from test rides.

Our birdies say the Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric packs a massive 14kWh battery pack with an onboard charger. For perspective, the Ultraviolette F77, which currently has India’s largest battery pack on an electric motorcycle, comes with a 10.3kWh capacity. The motor is made by Stark - no surprises there as the Spanish brand is well-experienced on this front, and Royal Enfield has a stake in the brand.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric Spotted Testing

What’s interesting is that our sources say it puts out 74.5kW of power (in the prototype that was ridden), which is more than twice that of the Ultraviolette F77. Consequently, it is also said to be capable of smashing the 120kmph speed mark in no time. We can only imagine the kind of raw torque this one makes, especially considering the fact that it is made by a brand (Stark) that is experienced in making electric dirt bikes. While there’s no word on the range, around 200-250km seems reasonable considering the large-capacity battery pack and the powerful motor. Mind you, this is just an extrapolation.

There are four riding modes: Zen (city), Off-road, Tour, Rally. Expect the output figures to vary as per the chosen mode as always having 100 horses at your disposal might prove to be a bit handful to some. But then, we were also told there’s no traction control, or even ABS, but that isn’t surprising as the bike is still in testing stages, and such advanced electronics take time to perfect.

As we have already seen in the recent spy shots, the electric adventure bike has pretty premium underpinnings, so our sources say gliding over obstacles is an absolute breeze.

Summing up, it looks like Royal Enfield is going full throttle on the Himalayan electric, figuratively and literally speaking considering the specs we just got to know. However, it is still a long way from hitting the roads. Even when it does, it won’t be cheap by any means. Around Rs 7-8 lakh (ex-showroom) seems probable in our opinion.
