Upcoming KTM 490 Duke spotted testing yet again
To get an all-new engine making around 60-65 PS
Expected to be launched in India by late 2027
The KTM 490 Duke has been spotted testing yet again. The latest spy shots give us a clearer look at the bike’s engine and underpinnings. Here’s all you need to know:

The latest test mule got spotted in its early stage of development, with most of its body panels missing. The bike’s proportions look noticeably larger than the KTM 390 Duke, but we can see a similar headlight setup as the 390 along with a new laillight design with integrated turn indicators. While the bike looks similar to the 390 Duke, we could expect it to get slightly different bodywork, which could be similar to the recently unveiled Duke 790.
From the spy shots, we can also see the WP Apex front fork and braking hardware, along with a monoshock. The bike gets a single disc at the front, while we can also see a side-swept exhaust.

The biggest highlight of the 490 Duke will be its brand-new engine. We already know that Bajaj and KTM are working on this new engine, which is expected to make around 60-65PS. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a bidirectional quickshifter. We also expect it to get features such as ride modes, switchable traction control, cornering ABS, and much more
The same engine could also be used in KTM’s future motorcycles, including the RC 490 and Adventure 490.

From the spy shots, we can also see a TFT console, which is expected to be similar to the unit found on the new-gen KTM bikes.
The console is expected to get Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and a host of connected features. More details about the exact equipment list are expected to be revealed later.

The KTM 490 Duke still appears to be in its developmental stage, so the exact launch timeline is not known so far. However, we expect the bike to be priced at around Rs 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom), and we expect it to be launched in India by late 2027. Once launched, the KTM 490 Duke could rival the likes of the Aprilia Tuono 457.
