Quick Read:
Experienced riders from both India and abroad have been riding the prototype
Will be showcased at EICMA show in November this year
Will be the most premium Royal Enfield motorcycle if launched
It is no secret that Royal Enfield is working on an electric Himalayan, and the bike has been spotted testing multiple times. But this time around, it has been spotted in large numbers in Himachal Pradesh. Turns out, it was an invite-only ride organised by Royal Enfield where expert riders from both India and abroad got to try the electric adventure bike. It was curated by Xplorearth, a Shimla-based touring company.

While earlier test sightings were limited to just a single bike or a few of them, this round of testing had a large fleet of electric Himalayans. Among the riders were Ricky Johnson, an American supercross champion, Carlos Checa Carrera, a MotoGP rider, and WSBK champion from Spain. This clearly indicates that Royal Enfield wants a wider perspective from not just their own test riders or even their management folks for that matter, but from extremely proficient riders who have done it all. With Royal Enfield’s strong ambitions in Europe and North America, inviting riders from abroad at this stage signals the company’s intent to make the Himalayan Electric a global product from day one.
As we had exclusively reported earlier, the Himalayan Electric packs a massive 14kWh battery pack and churns out 74.5kW of power in the prototype that was ridden. These figures alone make it one of the most powerful electric motorcycles in the country. According to our sources, the bike is capable of touching 120kmph in no time thanks to its large power reserve and a huge battery pack.

Spotting the Himalayan Electric in such large numbers, coupled with international attention, suggests Royal Enfield is right on track when it comes to its electric ambitions. That said, the launch of the production version is still quite some time away, possibly some time next year or the year after that. Before that, we may just see the final production version at EICMA on November 4 this year.
As for the pricing, it will command a pretty penny, say around Rs 7–8 lakh mark (ex-showroom). It will be more of a technology showcase meant for enthusiasts who want to try a product that offers the very best of what’s available at the time. That said, Royal Enfield has confirmed that its first production electric motorcycle will be the Flying Flea C6, which is expected to make its official debut at the 2025 EICMA show, and will likely be launched in India by March 2026.
