About BMW
History
German automaker BMW has a legacy of building driver-centric luxury cars with cutting-edge technology. It began operations over a century ago as an aircraft engine manufacturer, and has been producing cars since the 1930s.
As a carmaker, BMW landed in India in 2006, and had a new plant in Chennai by 2007. The 5 Series and 3 Series luxury sedans were its first cars, and later in 2012, it introduced the Mini brand in the country. It has been able to keep car prices in check with local assembly, but new fully imported electric vehicles attract a premium.
Product portfolio
Luxury Sedans: BMW offers the 3 Series, 5 Series and 7 Series sedans, and the 2 Series, 6 Series and 8 Series Gran Coupes in India. The 3 Series is also available as a long-wheelbase Gran Limousine and a sportier M340i sedan. In addition, BMW offers the Z4 and Z4 M40i two-door roadster, and the M2 Competition, M5 Competition, M760Li, and M8 performance sedans.
Luxury SUVs: The carmaker’s SUV range starts with the BMW X1 compact luxury SUV, and comprises the X3, X5, and X7 luxury SUVs. The X5 is available in a sporty X5 M Competition variant, while the X7 is BMW’s flagship SUV in India.
Coupe SUVs: Two coupe SUVs are part of the carmaker’s lineup in India – the BMW X4 and X6.
Electric vehicles: BMW’s EV lineup consists of the iX electric SUV.
Greatest hits
E90 BMW 3 Series: The carmaker’s debut model for India
E89 BMW Z4: Iconic two-seater convertible sports car
BMW i8: First electrified BMW model
E90 BMW M3: This rear-drive performance sedan was BMW’s first M car in India
F90 BMW M5: Quickest-ever BMW
Future plans
BMW intends to become a major player in the global EV market. It has launched its first electric car in India, and it has the Mini Cooper electric and i4 electric sedan in the pipeline. High customs duties and taxes on imported cars (both ICE and electric) currently make BMW’s EVs exorbitantly expensive in the country. In the future, policy changes or local assembly, paired with a growing nationwide electric car charging network, could help the European carmaker expand to electric cars in India.

X74.778 reviewsDiscovering the Luxurious Grandeur of the BMW X7
After a year of owning the BMW X7, I feel somewhat mixed. Starting with the positives, the X7's sheer size and three row seating are perfect for family trips with enough space for comfort and luggage. The engine performance is stellar with a 335 horsepower, 3.0 liter turbocharged inline six at its base offering, making any drive effortlessly powerful. The advanced features like gesture control and the panoramic sunroof also enhance the driving experience. The bulky size of the X7 makes it challenging to maneuver through the narrow street conditions ubiquitous in India.

X14.785 reviewsAn Upscale Compact SUV
I had the pleasure of driving the BMW X1 for around six months now and it has mostly been a joyful ride. On the upside, the car's performance is quite robust with its 2.0 liter turbocharged engine spitting out 228 horsepower allowing for a smooth and energetic drive. Its interior comfort and tech features, such as the intuitive iDrive system and spacious cargo capacity, add stars to its rating. However, as an Indian customer, the ground clearance is somewhat disappointing, particularly when tackling the rural roads or slightly harsher terrains.

X5572 reviewsNavigating the city with the BMW X5
Having the BMW X5 as my daily driver for over a year has been mostly a delightful experience. This mid size luxury SUV packs a punch with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six engine offering 335 horsepower, making it a powerhouse on wheels. The handling and ride quality are exemplary, courtesy of its adaptive suspension system. The cabin is a tech haven with features like an expansive 12.3 inch display, providing an all in one infotainment solution. For its size and capability, the X5's fuel economy is little bit lesser than ideal in city driving.

Z44.873 reviewsA Roadster to Remember
Driving the BMW Z4 has been the epitome of fun mixed with elegance. This sporty roadster with its rear wheel drive and sharp responsive steering, makes every journey thrilling. The 2.0 liter engine with 255 horsepower means quick acceleration and lively performance. The retractable hardtop is a wonderful feature, allowing for quick transitions between a cozy coupe and an exhilarating open air experience. However, The Z4 is not the most practical choice, especially seen through the lens of average Indian family needs limited cargo space and tighter interior spacing make it less ideal for those requiring more practicality from their vehicle.

i7567 reviewsFirst Drive: The Electrifying BMW i7
Having owned the BMW i7 for a few months now, my experience has been mostly positive with a sprinkle of everyday challenges. As BMW's step into the future of luxury electric vehicles, the i7 impresses with its range and tech features
