The 2024 Tata Nexon SUV has been spied once again, and this time, at heights way above sea level. Tata’s heavily revised subcompact SUV has been spotted testing somewhere in the Himalayas as the Indian marque is testing the SUV at high altitudes with harsh weather. It’s not a completely new-generation SUV, but something similar to the Maruti Baleno, where the hatch was heavily revised in its latest avatar.
The Nexon being tested at high altitudes could be for one important reason – it’s expected to get Tata’s new 125PS 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine. This is an RDE compliant unit and can run on E20 fuel (fuel with 20 percent ethanol blend). Plus, Tata earlier hinted that this engine will possibly get a DCT, so the Nexon could finally get a proper auto ‘box instead of the current six-speed AMT.
You can also expect the 1.5-litre diesel engine and its popular electric powertrains to be carried forwards.
These pictures also give us a closer look at its fascia, which gets a Curvv-inspired look. It seems to feature an LED DRL strip extending the width of the front, with a sleek grille and headlamps locked below it. In profile, save for the new wheels, the silhouette looks largely the same as before. And at the rear, the SUV boasts updated connected taillights with a sharper ‘X’ motif.

Other expected additions include the presence of a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the new seven-inch digital driver’s display, up to six airbags, and probably certain ADAS features as well. Bits like ventilated front seats, a single-pane sunroof and Harman sound system should be carried forward.
We expect the updated Tata Nexon SUV to debut sometime in 2024. And you can expect it to command a premium over the current model that is priced from Rs 7.8 lakh. It will lock horns with the Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 and Nissan Magnite.
