Pros and Cons

  • Positives
  • Negatives

Kia Sonet

  • Looks curvy and powerful. Lots of variants to choose from and proper automatics too. Like the Seltos the interiors don't disappoint. New update brings four airbags and TPMS as standard. Six airbags are now available on more models too. Some premium features and transmissions have also trickled down to lower variants.

Tata Nexon

  • Build quality is impressive
  • comfortable ride quality
  • well-loaded with features
  • strong safety package.

Kia Sonet

  • Not enough width for three adults. No cooled glove box or adjustable front arm rest.

Tata Nexon

  • Fit and finish could have been better
  • automatic transmission is an AMT
  • lacking practical storage in the cabin

Q. I decided to buy a new petrol sub 4 meter SUV. My choices are KIA Sonet HTK or TATA Nexon XM or Maruti Vitara brezza LXI. Having lot bits of confusion choosing the right vehicle, Since each model having its own Pros and Cons. I don't have any particular requirements. But it should be overall good in engine performance, ride quality, safety, mileage, material quality, etc. Please suggest your opinion so that it will be very much helpful for me to buy a right car.
  • Selecting one would depend on certain factors such as budget, brand preference, drivability, preference of the features, etc. Among the options, if you are looking for a feature rich car with smooth engine options and a premium quality interior, then we would suggest you to opt for the Kia Seltos. The base variant of Maruti Vitara Brezza does not offer much of the features and the cabin feels bare-bone. On the other hand, if you can stretch you budget a little further then the XM (S) variant of Tata Nexon could be a good option too. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride for a better understanding of comfort and compatibility. You may click on the link and select your desired city for dealership details.Read More: - [New Tata Nexon XM (S) Is The Most Affordable Car In India To Come With A Sunroof@https://www.zigwheels.com/news-features/news/tata-nexon-xm-s-variant-launched-at-rs-836-lakh-gets-a-sunroof/39628/
  • I too was in the same dilemma - I was confused between top variants of Sonet and Nexon and mid variants of Creta which are all similarly priced (budget of 15-16 lakhs). Nexon has the best suspension and ride quality over bad roads, Sonet has the most features, Creta is bigger and more SUV like. So which one to choose? I spent a lot of time researching the pros and cons of each car and more than that I made a list of the most important features I wanted in my new car and finally arrived on Kia Sonet. 1) Great performance - I’m a car enthusiast and drive for fun instead of need. It’s mostly long drives and less city drive and I wanted a peppy fun to drive engine. I test drove Sonet and Nexon
  • Guys, Just go for NEXON. It was awesome car with 3 drive modes. If you are looking for mileage s**t to ECO mode, if you want performance shift to SPORTS mode. Its serves both the purposes. Its our wish. Coming to Comfort, Safety, Build Quality NEXON is par better in its segment. Looks wise 2020 Facelift is having definitely a good look. I don't want to comment on looks as its personal touchbase for everyone. It differs from person to peronsFINALY I VOT FOR NEXON

Q. Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite or Kia Sonet, which is the value for money budget of 8 lakhs?
  • All these cars are good enough. There’s very little to hold against Kia’s Sonet. It could do with more cabin width to seat five better, and also add at least one more variant for the automatic transmission. An aspect where not just the Sonet but Kia themselves as a manufacturer needs to prove their long term reliability and dependability. The Sonet is ticking all the right boxes otherwise. It’s delivering on the wow factor with pukka mini-SUV looks, quality interiors and a feature list that’d make you question paying a premium for larger SUVs. It’s being sensible and practical too, with loads of cubby holes and a large boot. You get proper automatics, and the engines on offer cover a wide range of usage. Kia’s Sonet is rewiring our expectations from sub-4-metre SUVs. It’s proving that a small vehicle can be big on experience. The Tata Nexon has made a lot of improvements in this facelift. It looks better, feels more premium on the inside and now has a feature list to walk shoulder to shoulder with much of the competition. Reasons to buy the Nexon however remain the same: its 5 star safety, ride comfort, the sound system, rear seat space and value for money mid variants. Where the Nexon fails to impress is its powertrain and the cabin practicality. The petrol engine, though powerful, feels less refined and isn't happy to be pushed. Also, Nexon is offering an AMT automatic at this price point, where the competition is offering torque converters or even DCTs. The cabin storage for everyday items is still lacking. And the new steering and instrument cluster are unable to better the driver's experience. Overall, though it is a better Nexon, it fails to hit it out of the park. Minor bugbears aside, the Nexon continues to be a sensible small SUV for the family. It does become the default choice if you want space for five and their luggage, and a comfortable ride. However, if it's polish and latest tech you're after, the Nexon might feel a little rough around the edges. If we talk about Nissan Magnite, at its introductory price of Rs 4.99 lakh - Rs 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Nissan Magnite is a very tempting proposition and takes a different position vs its many rivals. This pricing will be applicable only till 31 December but along with that, this package does have some compromises too. For example, the cabin experience isn’t rich and fitment quality is of a budget grade. Many buyers do believe that SUV = diesel power and that isn’t an option that you get here either. Also, while it does get a turbo petrol engine, it isn’t complemented with a driving dynamics package that’s particularly exciting. Of course, Nissan’s sales and service network is also going into revival mode and its rivals have a clear upper hand here. Simply put, if you want the most premium and sophisticated pick from the segment, the Magnite probably isn’t for you. But if you want an SUV that’s spacious, practical, well loaded and comfortable to drive, all delivered at a price tag that’s serious value for money, the Magnite is certainly worth considering. You may compare all these cars accordingly. Do take a test drive in order to get better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.
  • This guy only has a budget of 8 lakhs and you are really recommending Sonet??? Sonet uses some diffferent engines for their lower variants which this guy is preferred to buy. And I don't think this non-turbo engine (Smartstream 1.2L petrol) can carry a heavy car like Sonet in the long run. So, I would prefer you to buy Magnite or Kiger. Even Nexon's base variant almost comes with that price and it has a 1.5L turbo-petrol engine! You're actually getting the same engine used in the top variant of Nexon!!! Nexon is the complete package if you consider -safety, build quality, better spacing & comfort, premium and good quality accesories- as primary concern. It is true that it lacks some features but those features are too fancy to be compared with the build quality. Like, these fancy features can even be installed through aftermarket but not the build quality. Also the service cost is also far less than Nissan, Kia or Renault. Hope it helps :)
  • Going by elimination-Sonet because of service network and so because of parts, though features are best in class and again as more and more customers are looking for safety -sonet doesn't score as much as others, magnite as it lacks one of the most sought features like sunroof even on top variant and again service network are under revival and Nissan parts are generally costlier at last it comes nexon -balanced car if going for petrol and feature wise as even top variant is under 13 on road for petrol variant.safety we all know ,its best among 3, boot space next to sonet, Ground clearance again best in segment, music system -you will find reason to be inside car , in general overall value for money car

Q. I am bit confused in selecting which car to buy in between Sonet GT / Nexon XZ+/ XUV300 W8 petrol/diesel variants for city as well as long rides?
  • Selecting a perfect car depends on various factors such as budget, preference of the brand, maintenance costs, ride quality, features required, etc. Moreover, selecting the right fuel type depends on your utility and average running of the car. If you drive less then 50km in a day then we recommend you to go with a petrol car as they are easy to maintain, have a longer life span and they cost less initially then the diesel car. On the other hand, diesel cars are preferred if the average daily run is more than 50km which makes it feasible purchase. The Mahindra XUV 300 is the best sub-4 metre SUV from the brand yet. The SUV offers great ride quality, a torquey diesel engine and a good amount of features, however, your head might think otherwise looking at the space on offer. On the other hand, the Nexon boasts brilliant build quality, an attractive design, and a strong safety package. With the revised looks, more powerful engine and added features, it surely needs to be on the top of your consideration list. Lastly, the Kia Sonet makes a strong case for itself with its butch looks, multiple powertrain options, an extensive list of features and premium quality interiors. It is impressive, even more so than the Seltos, as it delivers a palpably richer experience in a smaller package and in a more price-sensitive segment. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealership details.Read More: - Kia Sonet Driven: More Than Just A Great Brochure? - Kia Sonet: Same Price, Other SUV Options - 2020 Tata Nexon Facelift: Road Test Review

  • Yes it is possible.I bought a kia sonet htx petrol engine car recently and these were the questions i had as well.As the difference amount between htx and htx+ version is 2.3 lakhs i felt it's waste to spend extra money, Instead i can upgrade the htx externally after buying and it worked out well for me.I added the below add ons to my htx car 1.2 air purifiers2.Alloy wheels3.Amplified sound system4.Lightingit costed me around 90k basically i saved 1.5 lakh with extra interest charges on the financial optionshope it was helpful.Thank you.

  • Canceled Venue SX petrol and waited for this and it was worth it. I got HTX diesel at the same ex-showroom price with all the additional features and latest interior & exterior. Engine 5/5Comfort, 5/5Space, 4/5 (4 persons in my family) Interior 5/5 (as per other options in the segment), Overall rating 4.9/5. The only downside is steel wheel caps not looking so great. We will change soon. The showroom guys won't allow for self-insurance/zero bargaining/long waiting if not pre-booked. Hopefully, I pre-booked the first day itself.

  • A compact suv with all features of a larger suv.Value for money. There is a difference of 1.5 lakhs when compared with nexon top end.But with 7 spped dct gear box, 10.25 touch screen, Ventilated seats, Bose systems, Front parking sensors and 6 air bags the difference in amount is justified completely. These features you cant experience in any of the same segment cars.Stylish looks and finishing gives a brand look to the car.City mileage is around 12 to 13high way mileage i am getting 17.

  • Approaching 2½ years and completed 23k kms and countings I'm in love with the diesel motors the grunt, it pulls easy, put in 3rd and drive within city with zero efforts as if you're driving an automatic minimum gear change. In 3rd it can move the car from standstil and pull from as low as 25kmph that's the level of torque it has. Also own a swift vdi and an aspire titanium dragon series but trust me nexon is my fav daily car love driving around with it all in all am happy with my purchase apart from few niggles being an early bird got it within 3 months of launch which were rightly taken care by the TASS guys. Before buying one i had shortlisted nexon and ecosport after test driving one i never looked back at ecosport. Nexon striked all the checklist and its not that am compromising anywhere it being a Tata. Its a myth many carry around about a Tata product. The only thing I'm dissatisfied is the professionalism shown by the service advisors nothing sort of a deal breaker for the potential buyers if one knows how to deal with them. I know how to get things done for me. But, Tata should concentrate on training their staffs basic professional approach on handling customer. Otherwise a thumbs up. Initially got it for my highway drives after driving a dicor for a decade but seems like it has become a daily car now.

  • I bought the nexon xm after thorough research and it is the best compact suv under 10 lakhs.I got it for 9.20 lakhs. But i would prefer others to go for the xms variant if they have an extra 60, 000 (also if you need the sunroof) in their budget. It lakhs some features like touchscreen infotainment and armrest. But no one would prefer these features over the build quality.I mean, These are parts that can be installed in the future when you have enough money but the safety features and build quality can't be installed like that.So nexon provides all safety features including traction control which is a luxury under 10 lakhs.

  • Performance wise nexon is best in its segment with a engine of 1.5 litre diesel engine with a top class interior and comfortable on long route smooth and very tough body of tata as it's one of the best model tata has made i am not a person who just praise like that but it's a ultimate car muv in this range and i have taken test drive of tuv 300, s-cross which i think is not a car to compare with this, and venue which is 1.4 l engine and EcoSport but this vehicle is best in its segment power comfort milenge toughness everything is perfect.

  • I won't expect RR or Beemer kind of things from a 12 lakh vehicle, But what Nexon offers you is the Safety, Comfort, Fun of Driving, Fuel Economy and a lot of satisfaction. Have done 10000+ kms in 4 months, and never ever had any major issue apart from the ones that comes with new vehicles like software update, usb port issues.Highly recommended in the budget around 10 - 13 lakh. Now that Mahindra XUV 300 is also 5 Star rated, you have two worthy options in the price range.

  • Fantastic vehicle on job. No one can believe that it's an Indian vehicle. Structure, superior specifications, safety and comfort for the driver and passengers. Very big wheels in alloy fitted version. I used to drive majority of my drives on highways. Giving me average mileage of 22.50 for a round trip of 409 kms driven in 150 kmph. Amazing, proud to have this vehicle, kudos to Tata and team to have taken Tata's image to very next levels.
