With the launch around the corner, here’s a lowdown on the upcoming supersports

After about eight years since their debut, KTM has finally decided to update its RC range of supersports machines. Thus far, the KTM RC 200 had only been subjected to minor changes. But now, with the launch of the 2021 model range around the corner, official photos and interesting details have been leaked. If you have had eyes on the 2021 KTM RC 200, here are five things that can help you take a call:

Fresh Styling
The 2021 KTM RC 200 features a completely new design. Everything from its fascia to the fairings has been redesigned. It has even lost its cowl-shaped pillion seat in favour of a traditional seat. Both the rider and pillion seat get anAlacantara finish, adding to the overall premium appeal. The headlight is the same halogen unit sourced from the 200 Duke and gets fairing-integrated indicators.

More Stopping Power
The current KTM RC 200 gets a 300mm disc up front. However, the Austrian brand has decided to use a 320mm disc, the same size as that of the KTM RC 390. Interestingly, the new disc is almost a kilo lighter than the one on the current model.

Light On Its Feet
KTM’s pursuit to make its bikes lighter continues. The 2021 KTM RC 200 will be lighter than the current model. A major chunk of weight savings come from the new “bionic wheels”, which are claimed to be 3.4kg, which coupled with the lighter brakes, greatly reduces the unsprung mass. The new frame will reduce overall weight by a further 1.5kg.

New LCD Console
The 2021 KTM RC 200 will get a new LCD instrument console borrowed from the KTM 250 Adventure. This new blue backlit instrument console is a welcome change after the decade-old orange backlit digital console on the outgoing model.

Heavy On The Pockets
KTM has lost its value for money proposition thanks to its frequent price hikes. Currently, the KTM RC 200 retails at Rs 2.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Now, with the extensive updates, the price is expected to shoot up again, by Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000. The 2021 KTM RC 200 is expected to launch by the end of this month.
