Honda has launched two new dual-sport motorcycles in India, the XR300 Rally and XR300 L. Priced at Rs 2.08 lakh and Rs 1.83 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively, both motorcycles are aimed at buyers looking for capable off-road machines that can also be used for everyday riding. The XR300 Rally is the more touring-focused motorcycle, while the XR300 L is designed to be a lighter and more trail-oriented option.
Honda XR300 Rally: The More Touring-Focused Offering

The Honda XR300 Rally gets a slightly larger and more substantial design compared to the XR300 L. It also gets a larger fuel tank, which should give it better range and make it more suitable for longer rides and touring. It is available in two colour options: Extreme Red, and True Black.
The motorcycle features long-travel suspension, with a conventional telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It rides on spoke wheels with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear setup, wrapped in dual-purpose tyres. Disc brakes are offered at both ends. The XR300 Rally also gets a TFT instrument console, switchable dual-channel ABS and switchable traction control.
Honda XR300 L: Lightweight Trail Bike

The Honda XR300 L takes a more minimalist approach and is positioned as the lighter, more trail-focused motorcycle of the two. It gets a smaller fuel tank than the Rally, but retains the same basic chassis layout and long-travel suspension setup. It is available in two colour options as well: Extreme Red and Sashta White.
Like the Rally, the XR300 L gets a conventional telescopic fork, rear monoshock, disc brakes at both ends and 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels with dual-purpose tyres. It also gets switchable dual-channel ABS, and switchable traction control, although its instrument console is a more basic LCD unit.
Same 293 cc Engine

Both motorcycles are powered by the same 293 cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that was previously seen on the Honda CB300F. However, Honda has not yet revealed the power, torque or other key engine specifications for the XR300 Rally and XR300 L. It is expected to produce around 24 PS and 24 Nm.
The exact kerb weights, suspension travel and other crucial specifications have also not been announced yet, so a complete comparison between the two motorcycles will have to wait.
Price And Rivals

The Honda XR300 Rally is priced at Rs 2.08 lakh, while the XR300 L costs Rs 1.83 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). The Rally version will take on motorcycles such as the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440, Yezdi Adventure and KTM 250 Adventure. The more trail-focused XR300 L, meanwhile, will compete with the Hero Xpulse 210 and Kawasaki KLX230.
Honda XR300 Rally And XR300 L Bookings Open

Honda has opened bookings for both the XR300 Rally and XR300 L, with customers able to book the motorcycles at their nearest Honda dealership. However, with several important specifications still under wraps, it remains to be seen how the two motorcycles compare with their rivals once Honda reveals the complete details.
Zig Says
The XR300 Rally and XR300 L bring Honda’s popular XR dual-sport family to India, with the two motorcycles targeting slightly different types of riders. The Rally looks better suited to riders who want a dual-sport motorcycle for longer-distance touring, while the XR300 L should appeal more to those who prioritise light weight and off-road riding. The pricing also puts both motorcycles in a competitive part of the Indian adventure-bike market.
