Kawasaki India is expanding its ‘Z’ lineup with the new Z300, a naked streetfighter based on the popular Ninja 300 platform. The motorcycle, which will serve as the entry point to the Z family, was recently showcased at an event in Bangalore, confirming its design and powertrain details. With aggressive styling and modern features, it’s positioned to take on established rivals in the sub-400cc segment.

According to our sources, the upcoming Z300 was first unveiled at a private event in Bangalore, sporting a muscular silhouette that borrows heavily from its larger sibling, the Z900. The motorcycle features relaxed ergonomics, thanks to a wide, single-piece upright handlebar. Following the Bangalore preview, identical showcases are scheduled for Mumbai and Pune on October 18. Kawasaki has confirmed that official bookings will open nationwide on October 19, just before the full details go live.

According to Kawasaki India, powering the Z300 is the same 296 cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine found in the Ninja 300. This unit will produce a familiar 39 PS and 26.1 Nm, and will come paired to the same 6-speed gearbox. A significant upgrade over its faired sibling is the instrument cluster. The Z300 gets a modern TFT display with smartphone connectivity, a clear step up from the semi-digital unit on the Ninja 300. The motorcycle will be offered in two colour options: Green and Black.

According to Kawasaki, this upcoming streetfighter will be launched in India on October 20, 2026. The faired Ninja 300 currently retails for Rs 3.34 lakh (ex-showroom). By shedding the fairing, the Z300 could logically be priced somewhere under the Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. If it does, it will become a direct competitor to the KTM 390 Duke and the TVS Apache RTR 310. While the Z300’s twin-cylinder engine will likely offer superior refinement, it isn't expected to match the outright performance or chassis specifications of the KTM or TVS.
