A lot of flavourful tea has been spilt on the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 750, thanks to the new spy shots. This time around, the variant seems to be designed for highway mile-munching, and here’s how:

Two Variants, New Design

The Himalayan 750 will likely be offered in two variants: One with 17-inch alloys at both ends (with road-biased tyres) for touring as you see on the bike that’s just been spied; and another with a 19/17-inch spoke-wheel setup (with block pattern rubber) for mild off-roading (spotted earlier this year). The test mule also features new mirror designs, unseen on any previous Royal Enfield, and we hope it has better viewing coverage than the circular ones. The Himayalan 750 is also expected to get tons of accessories, such as an adjustable windshield, crash guards (as seen in the spy shots), a touring seat and more.

Power and Purpose

The bike will use a heavily reworked version of the 650cc parallel-twin engine found in the Interceptor and Super Meteor. Displacement will rise to around 750cc, thanks to a revised bore and stroke, and is expected to make roughly 55PS and 60Nm. This will make it the most powerful Royal Enfield ever built.

Crucially, it retains an air & oil-cooled setup, making it simpler and more affordable to maintain than its liquid-cooled rivals such as the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Tiger Sport 660. More powerful alternatives will be the Suzuki VStrom 800DE and the Honda Transalp. Interestingly, Royal Enfield had already previewed its intent with the Himalayan 850 Concept at Goodwood 2024 — a clear sign that fans have been craving a bigger, more capable Himalayan.

Built to Go the Distance

The Himalayan 750 will be built on a completely new frame, and will sit alongside the Himalayan 450, not replace it. While the 450 remains off-road focused, the 750 will be more road-biased, featuring dual front discs, an inverted fork likely adjustable, and a possibly linked type monoshock with a remote preload adjuster as you can see in these pictures. The bigger Himalayan, though, gets the same circular TFT console as the Himalayan 450 and is expected to get ride modes, switchable traction control, and cruise control as well.

A Slowly-cooked Delicacy

While the Interceptor and the Continental GT 750 might be unveiled at this year’s EICMA show, Royal Enfield might take some time with the Himalayan 750. It could be launched in India by the middle of next year. The Himalayan 750 could start at around Rs 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom). With the Himalayan 750, Royal Enfield intends to take on the likes of well-established 650cc tourers such as the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Triumph Tiger Sport 660. With a bit more power than the 650s, the brand aims to offer a properly capable, touring-friendly big bike for both Indian and global riders at an affordable price. This will also be an important model for the brand globally as it will have a fairly big price advantage over other liquid-cooled 650s, and will stand a better chance at roping in new riders who are looking to invest in a capable yet friendly ADV.
