Yamaha recently launched the R2 in India, expanding its sportbike portfolio with a starting price of Rs 2,39,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, the arrival of the R2 could spell the end of the road for one of Yamaha's most popular offerings, the R15 M, which is now likely to be discontinued in the Indian market.

According to our dealer sources, Yamaha is likely to discontinue the R15 M by the end of this year. The flagship variant of the R15 V4 is currently priced at Rs 2,00,540 (ex-showroom, Delhi), placing it considerably closer to the newly launched R2.

That said, Yamaha has not officially confirmed the discontinuation of the supersport.

Bookings Still Open, But Could Be The Last Lot

Bookings for the R15 M remain open, and dealerships still have units in stock. However, given the expected discontinuation timeline, the motorcycles currently available could be among the last batches offered to customers.

Interestingly, a few colour variants of the standard R15 now get a quickshifter as standard, a feature that was previously one of the highlights of the R15 M. This could further explain Yamaha's decision to likely discontinue the bike.

For now, the R15 M remains on sale, but if you are someone who has been eyeing the bike, you might want to hurry.
