The 2026 Bajaj Dominar 400 has received one of its biggest updates yet. While the headline change is the new downsized 350cc engine, Bajaj has also introduced ride modes, switchable traction control and a few touring-focused updates. We recently spent some time riding the motorcycle, and here’s what we liked and what could have been better.

Refined Engine With Strong Highway Performance

The biggest talking point is the new downsized 350cc engine. Yes, it has lost 1.8Nm of torque, and that drop is quite noticeable during quick overtakes or when you open the throttle hard. The initial punch and in-gear acceleration aren’t as strong as before.
That said, the engine is still quite enjoyable to ride. Bajaj has managed to extract an additional 0.6PS from it, and more importantly, the motor feels much smoother than before. Vibrations have reduced considerably, making it more comfortable to cruise at highway speeds for long hours. It still feels like a capable sports tourer and remains one of the better highway motorcycles in its segment.
Comes Touring Ready From The Factory

One of the Dominar’s biggest strengths has always been its touring credentials, and the 2026 model builds on that. It comes equipped with a tall touring visor, knuckle guards, a metal bash plate and a sturdy rear luggage rack straight from the factory. These accessories save buyers the hassle of spending extra money on aftermarket touring equipment.
The addition of ride modes and switchable traction control further improves the overall riding experience. Whether you’re riding through wet roads, highways or rough patches, these electronic aids add an extra layer of confidence and make the motorcycle feel more versatile than before.
Better Value Than Ever

The biggest surprise is the pricing. At Rs 2.04 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the 2026 Bajaj Dominar 400 is Rs 36,793 more affordable than before. Despite the lower price, Bajaj hasn’t compromised on equipment and the bike still comes loaded with some very useful features. Considering the performance, touring accessories and electronic rider aids on offer, the Dominar continues to deliver an excellent price-to-performance ratio and remains one of the best value-for-money bikes in the segment.

Instrument Console Feels Too Busy

The Dominar now uses the same LCD instrument cluster as the Pulsar NS400Z. While it offers plenty of information, the execution isn’t the best.
The display itself is relatively small, and Bajaj has tried to squeeze in a lot of data on a limited screen. This makes the console feel cluttered, especially while riding. Important information like speed and gear position can sometimes get lost among the other readouts, requiring the rider to take their eyes off the road for slightly longer than ideal. A larger, cleaner TFT display would have better suited the Dominar’s premium touring character.
The Design Is Starting To Show Its Age

Even today, the Dominar 400 remains one of Bajaj’s best-looking motorcycles. Its muscular fuel tank, aggressive stance and bulky proportions still give it strong road presence. However, the design has remained largely unchanged for nearly a decade. Apart from minor cosmetic tweaks over the years, Bajaj hasn’t given the motorcycle a meaningful visual refresh. As a result, it doesn’t feel as fresh or modern as some of its newer rivals.
The limited choice of colours doesn’t help either. Buyers in India only get Aurora Green and Charcoal Black, while several more vibrant paint schemes are offered in international markets. Introducing some of those colour options here, along with a subtle styling update, would go a long way in making the Dominar feel new again.
