Bajaj Pulsar N160 S

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pulsars, Bajaj has launched the Pulsar N160 S and the N160 SS. These get substantial updates over the regular N160.

Price: The Pulsar N160 S variant is priced at Rs 1,33,511 and the Pulsar N160 SS costs Rs 1,42,585 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Design: The new Bajaj Pulsar N160 4V has a similar-looking silhouette to the standard Pulsar N160 2V, but the new one gets sportier graphics. The bike is available in three colour options – Atlantic Blue, Pearl Metallic White, and Brooklyn Black.

Features: The Pulsar N160 S gets an electronic ride-by-wire throttle, which enables multiple riding aids: Rain, Sport, Road and Off-road. There’s also a low-rpm assist. Both its variants get a digital display; the N160 S variant has an LCD console with Bluetooth connectivity enabling turn-by-turn navigation and phone alerts. The N160 SS variant gets a 5-inch TFT console with Bluetooth plus Wi-Fi connectivity, and it can also mirror Google Maps navigation (first in segment). The top SS variant also gets better safety features with dual-channel ABS and traction control, which the base N160 S misses out on.

Engine: This Pulsar N160 gets a new 165cc air-oil-cooled, 4-valve engine. This engine makes 18.5 PS at 9,500 rpm and 14.4 Nm at 8,000 rpm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. Bajaj claims that it accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in 4.5 seconds.

Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The bike is equipped with a 37mm USD fork and monoshock. It has a 14-litre fuel tank and 165mm ground clearance – same as the standard Pulsar N160. The seat height is 795 mm and the kerb weight stands at 151 kg. The bike rolls on 17-inch tyres at both ends with 110/80-section front and 130/70 rear radial tyres. Braking is managed by 300mm front and 230mm rear disc brakes.

Rivals: The Pulsar N160 S and SS rival the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, and Hero Xtreme 160R 4V.

Variants: The Bajaj Pulsar N160 S is available in two variants, the base S variant and the top SS variant.
