VinFast will be making a prominent investment in India to become a significant player in the domestic market

Slow and steady seems to be the mantra for VinFast in 2025. However, this new Vietnamese marquee is looking for a big 2026 with new electric cars, an e-bus and even e-scooters planned to come this year to India.

Thus far, the brand has launched the VinFast VF6 and the VinFast VF7 electric cars in India with plans of bringing in the Limo Green by February 2026. It has managed to set up over 30 outlets over the course of the year and is hoping to complete 50 touchpoints before the start of 2026. But going full gung ho with electric scooters also in the mix clearly states that VinFast means business.

We were invited to VinFast’s Hai Phong factory to get a sample of a few of its products that it makes and sells in Vietnam. Of the six e-scooters on show, four of them were fairly similar in the foundations with a small hub motor. Here are the specs of the four that more or less shared a common ground:

While these are certainly popular in Vietnam, especially the Evo Grand and Klara, the likelihood of them succeeding as much in India isn’t going to be as much as the Vento S and the Theon. The VinFast Vento S is more in line with the electric scooters on sale in India, with a mid-mounted motor that is capable of producing enough performance to keep pace with Indian traffic scenarios.

The Theon is a little extreme in its departure from the current crop of Indian electric scooters. It is more motorcycle-like in its hardware with a scooter body. It could very well usher in a new wave of electric scootering in India.

VinFast has stated that feasibility testing has already begun for the e-scooter project in India. The product will be made for India specifically taking into account the demands of our market and not just a mildly-tweaked e-scooter that VinFast already makes. Given the fact that this will require some serious R&D, it is safe to expect further development on this in the latter half of 2026 with the final version of the VinFast e-scooter to take place towards the end of the year.
