Ather Energy had earlier confirmed the launch of its new family-oriented electric scooter, the Konarc, for August 29, 2026. The launch will take place at the brand’s annual Community Day event. Here’s what we expect from the upcoming family-oriented scooter:
The Konarc’s design is built around everyday usability. Its core features include a conventional handlebar-mounted headlight, a wide and completely flat floorboard for carrying groceries or bags, and a long, spacious seat for comfortable two-up riding. The suspension setup uses a telescopic fork, while the scooter rides on a 14-inch front and a 12-inch rear wheel. The ride quality is expected to be on the softer side as the scooter is catered towards family-oriented consumers. Braking is handled by a front disc and a rear drum, supported by an Advanced Electrical Braking System that combines regen and regular braking.

From the spy images we have earlier seen, the scooter will be driven by a swingarm-mounted motor. It is expected to be derived from the unit found in the Ather 450X. The scooter’s performance is expected to be tuned for smoother, more approachable power delivery suited to family use rather than outright acceleration. Its battery will likely be a mid-sized unit and will have a capacity from 2 to 5 kWh. This approach gives an adequate city-commute range along with keeping the prices in check.

While we know that the Konarc will come equipped with a TFT console, it should offer smartphone connectivity features. It will also likely benefit from the Ather Stack 7.0 OTA update, bringing features like voice commands, pothole detection alerts, and tow and crash notifications. A standout feature is expected to be its full-fledged navigation system that can operate independently without requiring a tethered smartphone. Other conveniences such as multiple riding modes, a reverse mode, and hill-hold assist are also likely to be there.

The Ather scooter is expected to be priced between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom), it will go against some fierce rivals. Its primary competitors will be the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ampere Nexus, and the Hero Vida VX2. This segment is the most competitive in the Indian electric scooter market, filled with loads of proven products from major manufacturers.
