Hero has launched the new Maestro Edge 125, a 125cc version of their 110cc Maestro Edge. Both scooters have similar bodywork. Features on the Maestro Edge 125 includeLED DRL’s and LED tail lamp, remote seat and fuel cap opening, digital analogue instrument console, external fuel filler cap, boot lamp and mobile charging USB port in the boot. The scooter gets six colour options: Pearl Fadeless White, Panther Black, Matte Bue, Matte Brown, Matte Vernier Grey and Matte Red.
It is available in two trims: i3S (carburetted) and FI. As the names suggest, the carburetted variant gets Hero's patented i3S start-stop technology. It makes 8.83PS and 10.2Nm of torque. The Maestro Edge 125 FI is the first Indian scooter to feature fuel injection. It makes a higher 9.24PS and the same 10.2Nm of torque. Both bikes get a variomatic transmission.
The Maestro Edge 125 gets a 775mm tall seat and weighs 110kg. Interestingly, the carburetted Maestro Edge gets a larger 5.5-litre fuel tank compared to the Fi variants 5-litres tank capacity.Suspension setup includes telescopic forks and a single hydraulic shock absorber. The scooter gets 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels. While the i3S variant gets drum brakes on both wheels with an optional 190mm front disc brake, the FI variant gets a standard front disc and rear drum brake. All variants get CBS.
The Maestro Edge 125 is available in three variants: Maestro Edge 125 FI (Rs 62,700),Maestro Edge 125 i3S Carb with disc (Rs 60,000) andMaestro Edge 125 i3S Carb with drum (Rs 58,500). It competes with the Honda Grazia (Rs 64,967), TVS Ntorq (Rs 59,900) and Suzuki Access 125 (Rs 58,350)(all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
