Latest Updates on Splendor Plus XTEC
The Hero Splendor Plus Xtec is now available with a disc brake. Check out the details here. Also, here’s how the Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 differs from the Splendor Plus Xtec and also how it fares against its rivals, on paper. The Hero Splendor Plus is India’s best-selling bike. Why is that so? Check out the reasons here.
Hero Splendor Plus XTEC is a more premium bike as compared to Splendor Xtec, and comes with modern features like a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. However, it has the familiar Splendor design with the boxy headlight.
Expert's Opinion on Splendor Plus XTEC
Overview

- The Hero Splendor Plus XTEC stands out as a more premium version of the iconic Splendor Plus
- The bike features a digital instrument console and a few other changes compared to the standard Splendor
- But does the bike offer enough to stand apart and still appeal to the average consumer? We will be answering this question.
Design

- The Hero Splendor Plus XTEC has not received a radical change in design when compared to the standard Hero Splendor Plus.
- The bike still maintains that iconic square headlight, boxy-looking tank and an overall slim profile
- The XTEC variant gets slightly more premium looking colours and styling, which manages to make the bike feel a bit more premium
Performance & Mileage

- Powered by a 97.2cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 8.02PS and 8.05Nm. The power and torque are adequate to keep up with city traffic
- Has enough bottom-end grunt to execute quick overtakes in city traffic
- Offers an incredible tested mileage of 83.2kmpl in the city and 95.8kmpl on the highway
- Refinement is not the best and vibrations can be felt when pushing the bike upwards of 80kmph
Handling

- Feels very light and agile when riding in city traffic conditions, and the small size makes it easy to cut through traffic
- The light weight of 112kg makes it easy to move around in the parking lot
- The drum brakes do not inspire confidence when riding in the city. For better braking performance, riders will have to get the XTEC disc variant
- The rear brakes do not offer much feel, so it is easy to lock up the rear during emergency braking situations
Ride Quality

- The Splendor XTEC’s suspension setup is set towards the stiffer side and the ride quality is not the best. You will feel a lot of the bumps and potholes on the road
- The suspension setup only balances out when riding with a pillion or heavier loads
Comfort & Storage

- The bike offers a relatively upright riding posture which is quite relaxed and comfortable
- The low seat height also makes it easy for shorter riders to get their feet down
- The seat cushioning is on the softer side which makes short rides in the city very comfortable
- The soft seat doesn't do a good job supporting the rider’s weight for longer distances. After a while, the rider’s butt starts sinking into the foam making the ride uncomfortable
Features

- The digital instrument console has a clean layout and is easy to read. The large font also makes it easy to take a glance while on the go quickly.
- The idle-start-stop system (i3S) works quite well and helps in improving the bike’s mileage
- USB charging port is a very convenient addition which makes charging on the go easy
Verdict

- The Hero Splendor Plus XTEC stands out as a more premium version of the Hero Splendor Plus. It gets some much needed colour and styling changes along with some features upgrades. The bike is perfect for those who are looking for a reliable commuter, which has a proven track record.
- But the bike doesn’t manage to stand out when compared to the regular Splendor Plus. The starting price of Rs 79,911 is a bit too high and customers can also get higher capacity models like the TVS Radeon at the same price range.
Key Things to Know about Splendor Plus XTEC
- Really peppy and frugal in the city
- The bike is planted yet flickable and gets an extensive list of features for a 100cc commuter bike
- The seat gets really vibey really quick
- Suspension tuning could be better over sharp bumps and initial feedback from the front lever is not very great

- The Hero Splendor Plus XTEC is equipped with a Telescopic Hydraulic Shock Absorber at the front and a Swingarm with 5-step adjustable Hydraulic Shock Absorbers at the rear, which helps in delivering a comfortable and stable ride. This suspension setup is well-suited for daily commuting, as it absorbs bumps effectively and ensures better control on uneven roads.
- The Hero MotoCorp Splendor Plus XTEC is designed for everyday Indian riding conditions, so its digital meter is built to handle normal rain without any issues . The console is properly sealed and water-resistant, which means riding in light to moderate rain will not damage it. However, problems can occur if the meter unit is already damaged, improperly fitted, or exposed to things like high-pressure water washing or water entering through cracks. So under normal use, rain is not a concern, but basic care and avoiding direct water pressure on the meter will help keep it working perfectly.
- To maintain your Hero Splendor in the best condition over the long term, it is important to follow the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule and use only genuine spare parts along with the specified engine oil. Ensure that tyre pressure is maintained correctly, the chain is cleaned and lubricated at regular intervals, and the brakes are checked periodically. Riding smoothly, avoiding overloading, and promptly addressing any unusual noises or performance issues will also help extend the bike’s life. Additionally, keeping the motorcycle clean and storing it in a covered area will protect it from dust and environmental damage.
- The Splendor Plus XTEC comes with 80/100-18 tyres at both the front and rear.
