Hero Splendor Electric

Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to launch the electric version of India’s best-selling motorcycle, the Hero Splendor, by 2027. Codenamed Project ‘AEDA’, the bike has been under development for nearly two years at Hero’s tech center in Jaipur. Once launched, it is expected to make a significant dent in the commuter EV segment and could redefine electric mobility for the mass market.

The Hero Splendor Electric will retain the no-nonsense, reliable character of its petrol sibling while transitioning to a cleaner, quieter powertrain. The brand targets annual sales of 2,00,000 units - aiming to replicate the success of the ICE model in the EV space.

While technical specifications are yet to be revealed, Hero’s partnership with Zero Motorcycles suggests the use of refined electric drivetrain tech. Hero is expected to offer a practical range, decent top speed, and affordable pricing to cater to everyday commuters.

Hero plans to sell over 5 lakh electric two-wheelers annually by FY 2027-28 — including scooters and bikes — signaling a major shift in the company’s long-term strategy.
