Triumph’s all-new Rocket 3 R has been launched in India in Goa, ahead of India Bike Week. It is available in two colours: red and black and is priced at Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). The new performance cruiser made its global debut in July this year.
The new-gen Triumph Rocket 3 gets a completely new design language and looks a lot more modern than its predecessor. Triumph knows there’s no replacement for displacement, hence it has made the already-large capacity motor even bigger. The engine now displaces a gargantuan 2,500 cee cees, and churns out a hair-raising 167PS of power and a tarmac-tearing 221Nm of twist! Thankfully, Triumph has equipped the motorcycle with all sorts of electronics to keep the rubber side down. Notable ones include cornering ABS, traction control, four riding modes and cruise control.
All that mind-boggling power commands the need for top-notch underpinnings. For this, Triumph has built the bike on a lighter, all-aluminium frame mounted on Showa suspension that’s fully adjustable on both ends. Brakes include Brembo Stylema calipers holding the twin 320mm discs and a 300mm rear disc with Brembo M4.32 caliper. If you’re interested in reading more about this marvel of a machine, head here.
There are no direct rivals in the Indian market, but when it comes to performance-oriented cruisers, the other options you have are the Ducati Diavel 1260 and the Harley-Davidson Fat Bob. Interestingly, the Diavel 1260 comes quite close in terms of pricing, at Rs 17.7 lakh. On the other hand, the Fat Bob will set you back by Rs 14.69 lakh, both ex-showroom pan-India.
