Harley Davidson Fat Bob FAQs
Fat Bob Key Highlights
Engine: Power for the big bruiser comes courtesy a new 1745cc Milwaukee-Eight 107 V-twin motor. Harley has developed the motor for more refinement and performance. It makes 143Nm at a low 3,250rpm. Transmission is a six-speed unit with tall gear ratios. Fuel tank capacity is 14.1 litres while the bike weighs 296kg (kerb). Performance stats include a 0-100kmph time of 5.38 seconds and a top speed in the region of 200kmph. It borrows the chassis from the all new Softail lineup and is lighter and more rigid. Seat height is 720mm, while ground clearance is a low 120mm so you do have to be careful while navigating speed breakers. The suspension setup includes sportier front upside down forks and rear monoshock damper. Alloy wheels come wrapped in 150/80 R16 front and 180/70 R16 rear tyres. Braking is via twin-discs at front and a single disc at rear. ABS comes as standard fitment.
Rivals: Triumph Bonneville Bobber: The Bonneville Bobber’s charm lies in its attention to detail and the the design that stays true to old school bobber styling. Touches like a floating seat and slash-cut exhaust make it stand out from the crowd. Power comes courtesy a 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor that makes 77PS and 106Nm. The Triumph Bonneville Bobber is priced at Rs 9.56 lakh (ex-India). Positives include engaging handling, electronics and that unique ride experience. However, a stiff suspension setup and the fact that it’s strictly a single seater by default let the package down. Indian Scout Bobber: Like the Fat Bob, the Indian Scout Bobber comes with a more accepted V-twin engine layout. It, however, gets a smaller 1133cc heart but thanks to liquid cooling, it feels more refined and revs faster as well. Power figures for the engine stand at 94PS and 97Nm, mated to a 5-speed unit. It is priced at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-India). Positives are good handling and fantastic quality with high levels of fit and finish. Offered as a single-seater as standard, it does offer an option of a rear seat.
