Automotive component maker Uno Minda is one of the few that works silently with its partners to provide worthy solutions to automotive manufacturers. It had launched its own line of engine oils and the company got in touch with us to test it out. So rather than conducting the test on a new vehicle, the real test for it would be on a fairly used two-wheeler.
Hence, we got its Perfo Maxx 10W-30 oil for scooters and are going to be using it in our production chief’s TVS NTorq 125 (BS3 model). Now, the oil we’re using is fully mineral – rather than synthetic or semi-synthetic – and hence the asking price for a 800ml bottle is just Rs 342. However, the NTorq requires 1.1 litres of engine oil. So you’ll have to purchase two bottles for a complete change.
Uno Minda claims that its scooter oil will last up to 10,000km. That number does sound promising but we shall let you know if it needs a change sooner. The need for a top-up will arrive in that duration, and hence the second can should come in handy then.

Prior to the oil change, the NTorq in question was sounding a bit gruff, with a fair few vibes emanating from the floor. Hopefully, the new oil shall reduce these unpleasant feelings in the time to come. Uno Minda claims the oil aids in keeping maintenance costs low, protecting the engine from excessive wear, and providing smooth driveability.
Stay tuned for our report once we’ve clocked 3000km after this oil change.
