TVS has taken the wraps off what could be one of the most extreme 125cc motorcycles from an Indian manufacturer. Meet the RTR 125, a sporty streetfighter that packs a liquid-cooled, four-valve engine, a six-speed gearbox and loads of premium features. Here's everything you need to know:
The TVS RTR 125 looks every bit the sporty streetfighter, thanks to its sharp bodywork, aggressive tank extensions and muscular stance. That said, some might argue that the fascia bears a resemblance to the Honda CB125 Hornet, particularly with its angular headlight design.

Powering the RTR 125 is a 125cc, four-valve, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that produces 14.9 PS at 9,000 rpm and 12 Nm at 7,000 rpm. These figures put it right up there with the KTM 125 Duke.
The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and gets an slip-and-assist clutch, which should make gear shifts smoother while also reducing rear-wheel hop during aggressive downshifts.
The motorcycle is built around a trellis frame, paired with a cast swingarm. Suspension duties are handled by a KYB setup, while braking is taken care of by ByBre petal disc brakes with switchable dual-channel ABS.
The RTR 125 also gets a fairly comprehensive feature list for a bike in this segment. It comes equipped with a 5-inch TFT display with map mirroring and ride modes.

While the RTR 125 looks like an exciting addition to the brand's international lineup, it is very unlikely to make its way to India anytime soon.
The bike has been specifically designed for markets that follow A1 licence norms, which restrict riders to bikes with an engine capacity of up to 125 cc. In these markets, the Apache RTR 125 will go up against the KTM 125 Duke, offering a similarly sporty and premium package.
For India, however, the biggest hurdle is likely to be pricing. The liquid-cooled engine, premium hardware and extensive feature list would make the RTR 125 considerably more expensive than conventional 125cc air-cooled motorcycles sold here. While TVS could certainly introduce a premium 125cc motorcycle in India, the RTR 125, in its current form, is unlikely to make it to our shores.
