TVS Apache RTX 300 Review: 🎯 Or 💸?

TVS is late to the adventure bike party, but fashionably so. After years of anticipation, rumours, and spy shots – the TVS Apache RTX 300 is finally here. Here’s a quick look at the 5 best things about it:
Let’s get this out of the way right now: this isn’t some rebadged BMW G 310 GS with new body panels and a sticker job. The RTX 300 is a ground-up creation from Hosur, and it’s clear that TVS has been paying attention to what adventure riders really want. The RTX 300 looks every bit the modern ADV it was born to be tall, muscular, and handsome – in that functional, ready-for-anything way. There’s a hint of Triumph Tiger Sport 660 and even some Aprilia Tuareg 660 in its design DNA, but TVS has added its own flavour. The proportions are spot on; it looks substantial and purposeful when you swing a leg over it.

Adventure bikes are all about long distance touring comfort, and TVS absolutely nailed that formula. Despite the 835mm seat height, the narrow seat makes it approachable even for shorter riders. If you’re around 5’10”, you’ll feel perfectly at home — and even those below that won’t find it intimidating. The wide handlebar and roomy seat give you that commanding, upright touring stance that makes long days in the saddle a breeze. Plus, when the trail calls, you can easily stand on the pegs and lock your knees in — it all just feels natural.
Powering the Apache RTX 300 is TVS’s new RTX D4 engine, and it’s a soothing experience. This isn’t a rev-happy screamer that demands constant attention; instead, it’s calm, tractable, and refined. You can chug along at 35-40 kmph in fourth gear without protest, and it’ll pull gently through most situations. The fun really starts around 5,000rpm, and it wakes up properly after 7,000rpm. There are mild tingles around 6,000rpm, but nothing unpleasant — just enough to remind you there’s a motor working hard underneath.

And here’s something the geeks will love — it gets a rotational-sensor quickshifter (Top and BTO variant) like the one found on the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z, the KTM 390 and 250 lineup – it’s not the basic pressure-switch type. It is a more cost-effective setup and yet it delivers on a slick shifting experience. This engine may not give you a massive adrenaline rush, but it delivers something arguably better: confidence and ease, ride after ride.
On broken roads, rough roads, light trails or on tarmac, this TVS Apache’s suspension setup is capable of soaking them all. Especially on the top-spec BTO (Built To Order) version, where you get a compression and rebound adjustable inverted fork. It’s plush and pliant over potholes and broken roads, yet stable and composed on twisty mountain sections.

In Rally mode, traction control and rear ABS can be switched off. Brakes are strong, feedback is solid, and the chassis feels planted. Even though the review ride didn’t offer long highway stretches, the overall balance suggests this is a bike that’ll cruise all day without breaking a sweat.
TVS has chosen to keep things simpler this time around by its own standards, at least when compared to the 310 twins, and that’s a good thing. You get a 5-inch full colour TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity, 4 riding modes, cruise control, TPMS (BTO only), switchable traction control and ABS — basically everything you’ll ever really need.

And here’s the kicker – even the top-spec BTO trim of the RTX 300 undercuts the KTM 250 Adventure by Rs 11,000 – at least for now with its introductory prices. For what it offers, the RTX 300 represents fantastic value for money in the growing entry-level ADV market.
So, was the TVS Apache RTX 300 worth the wait? More or less – even if it took its sweet time to arrive. This isn’t a hardcore off-roader or a performance junkie’s weapon. What it is, though, is a balanced, refined, and confidence-inspiring ADV built for riders who want to explore and tour while posing to be a good daily runabout as well. It’s a great first adventure bike for those who do not actually want to mess around with the off-roading business much.
